Manchester United flew to Turf Moor with the hopes of strengthening their grip for the top four spot, but Sean Dyche and his team had other plans.

In the first half, Ralf Rangnick's side dominated, with Paul Pogba scoring his first Premier League goal in almost a year during a frantic 10-minute period in which United had two goals disallowed for foul play — a Raphael Varane header and a Ben Mee own goal.

However, the hosts were able to get back into the game with a quick equalizer from Jay Rodriguez.

United now sit in fifth position in the Premier League rankings, one point behind West Ham United, who won 1-0 against Watford on Tuesday.

Varane appeared to have earned his goal for United in the 13th minute, only for his header to be ruled out for offside following a lengthy VAR review, against captain Harry Maguire, after a lengthy VAR review.

With Burnley trying to adjust, Manchester United took the lead through Pogba's powerful goal from the edge of the box after superb work from Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.

The second goal for United was ruled off for a deflection into his own goal, this time due to a foul by Pogba in the buildup, before Edinson Cavani should have scored from a close range header, only for Nick Pope to make a remarkable save.

Rangnick was displeased with the umpires during United's FA Cup loss to Middlesbrough on Friday, and his mood did not improve after his side was unable to convert their dominance against Burnley.

Rangnick told BT Sport, "I think we played a wonderful first half, couldn't have played any better." "We scored three goals, with the second [for a Rashford foul] being disallowed for reasons I don't understand.

"The linesman made a very, very soft decision. He called the foul about five or six seconds after it occurred.

"He flagged when the ball was in the net, which startled me." Was he sure he saw the foul? I see why the first was denied, even if it was a difficult one, but I don't get why the second was not.

"If you look at the entire game, we dominated for the vast most of it. Winning one point isn't enough, and it's time for another round of frustration."

As United pressed, Marcus Rashford forced Pope into another fantastic save, but they were unable to add a second before the break, despite having 12 shots at goal in the first half.

Rodriguez scored his first league goal at the perfect time, before January signing Wout Weghorst nearly turned the game totally on its head with a long-range shot that was wonderfully saved by David de Gea in the United goal.

Varane's back-heeled effort was as close as United came to scoring, extending their unbeaten away league run to six games (only leaders Manchester City have a longer unbeaten run on the road), but the draw will feel like a loss given the balance of play.

The Manchester United manager felt his team had been undone by the referee and his team on that night. Before January signing Wout Weghorst nearly turned the game completely on its head with a long-range shot that was brilliantly stopped by David de Gea in the United goal, Rodriguez scored his first league goal at the ideal time.

Varane's back-heeled effort came the closest to scoring for United, extending their unbeaten away league run to six games (only leaders Manchester City have a longer unbeaten run on the road), but the draw will feel like a loss given the balance of play.

It was a night where the Manchester United boss felt they were undone by poor refereeing. It has not been as straight forward as the United boss would have wanted since his appointment. Manchester United would have to pull out a lot more from their sleeves if they are to secure a top four spot in this campaign.

This post was actually re rewritten by me, though I also watched the game, have written anything I have not seeing or experienced before. I take full responsibility and also will say that this won't happen again. My recent posts have been faulted by the hivewatchers and I will say it's the first time. I sincerely apologise for going against everything that the hive blog stands for.
