MY FAVORITE FOOD - Ogbono Soup and Fufu

Hello Everyone.

I'm so happy once again to be part of this topic in Week 3 Edition 3 of @hive-learners community, titled "Your Favorite Food".

Food is very important to our body, it is the fuel of the body, we get energy and nutrients from the various food we eat, so it very important to eat good food and stay healthy.

We love to eat all kinds of food, both the one from our tribes, region or maybe intercontinental dishes.
But there is a particular food that is so special to us, we don't joke with this food, as it is our favorite among all.

I want to share with you my favorite food and how it is being prepared, I bet you will really love to eat it and also be glad you stopped by.

Ogbono Soup and Fufu

Ogbono Soup is one the most popular soup in West Africa, in Nigeria to be precise.
This soup is made with Ogbono seed gotten from wild African bush mango.

Ogbono soup has a slimy texture, known as draw soup in Nigeria.

How to prepare Ogbono soup

Ingredients

  • 2 handful of Ogbono seeds or 4 handful of grounded Ogbono powder
  • Assorted meat 1.5kg and dried fish
  • Stockfish head(medium size)
  • 2-3 Cooking spoonful Palm Oil
  • Vegetable : Spinach or Pumpkin leaves or you can use bitter leaf,or a mixture of both
  • Crayfish( 1 cup)
  • 1 Onion bulb
  • 2 stock cubes( seasoning cubes)
  • Salt and pepper to taste.

Soak the stock fish and dried fish with hot water for few seconds, break the fish by removing the bone then wash.

Parboil your meat with all required ingredients like a teaspoon of salt, onions, 1 or 2 seasoned cubes.

Preparation

  1. Heat up the palm oil in a clean dry pot untill hot, if you wish you can add onions at this point but it is optional.

  2. Put off the heat and add the grounded Ogbono into the hot oil, then dissolve the Ogbono by pressing and stirring constantly.

  3. Put the heat back but on low, add the meat stock, and leave to boil for minute, you will start noticing that it is becoming thicker and the slimy texture.

  4. Add more water and leave to boil for 10-12 minutes, make sure you stir the soup constantly so that it does not get burned at the bottom of the pot. Add your stockfish, dry fish, assorted meat, stock cube, pepper, grounded Crayfish and salt for taste.

  5. Make sure it us mixed well, cover and leave to simmer for about 9-12 minutes, Don't forget to be stirring it constantly.

  1. At this point you will start noticing the aroma of the soup, add your vegetables and stir.
    Simmer for 1-3 minutes and put off the heat and yes your delicious Ogbono soup is ready, where is your Fufu? .

I find ogbono soup as one of the easily soups to prepare. You have done well by telling us your recipes and how to prepare it. I also love to eat ogbono soup.
