So, yesterday, being Sunday, I found myself in a bit of a dilemma. Or should I say instead that in the days leading up to Sunday, I found myself in a bit of a dilemma. And the cause of it was the place where I would worship. I have my local Catholic Parish here that I could have easily gone to, but as I’ve said multiple times, I’m in my multiple-parish era. Today I can worship at Ilasa, next week I worship at Lekki, the week after that, you’ll find me in a parish in Badagry.
It’s what I’ve been doing for a while, since the beginning of the year. I use it as a means to get around Lagos and get to know the state a bit easier. And I enjoy it so much because it’s way easier traveling on Sunday mornings than it is on any other day of the week. It’s without all the usual stress that comes with early morning movements on other days of the week. Which is why I don’t think I can stop this anytime soon. And then, the fact that they’re all catholic churches, so they’re basically the same thing. Just different locations.

So, my plan for yesterday had been to worship at Idimu, it had been a while since I went to the parish. But sometime during the week, I found out that Idimu wasn’t going to be a good destination for me, they had their harvest slated for that day! Oh yeah! And know this, I’m not really a fan of harvest programs because they always take so long, and the mass that’s held on that day always feels like they’ll never finish.
I can’t even remember the last time I attended a harvest and bazaar event, because on those days, I’ll simply go to a different parish that wasn’t having their harvest and bazaar. That’s what I thought I was going to do this past week, but it turned out not to be the case. Because every other parish I looked into, including my local parish, I must say, they all had their harvests slated to happen yesterday! Like, how is it possible? How can everyone be having their harvest on the same day?

It wasn't until later that I got to know the reason; it wasn’t by design. It’s not a coincidence either. I’ll just call it an eventuality. It happened because many parishes couldn’t have it any other way. You see, it turns out that next Sunday is Corpus Christi, which we all know involves a procession on the streets. So, all over the world, we’d be observing it. So, a harvest can’t hold on that day. And as we go further and further, we get into Advent and Christmas doings, most parishes have their schedules jam-packed with other activities. So, the harvest wasn’t going to work on any of them. Which was why the 16th of November was such a good choice for many of them.
Well, not for me though, because I didn’t like it one bit. But what could I do? I still had to attend mass, even with the threat of the harvest program. And in the end, I just attended my local parish. As expected, it was a very long mass, taking more than two hours extra before we hit dismissal. But when the harvest proper started, it was actually quite an event, and I have to say, I enjoyed it.
And that, my friends, was how my Sunday went. It was quite eventful, and I’m looking forward to the other Sundays for the rest of the year. I’m sure they’d be just as great.

Before reading I concluded you were running away from harvest donations and the whole long mass duration that comes with it and I think I was partly right 😂
Unlike you, I'm an Altar server so I don't really have an option
I usually stay till the end😂
