When it comes to physical appearance, it’s something that’s taken into major consideration here in my country. People will judge you on the kind of dress you wear, how long or short it is, the way your hair is kept, and what you have on your ears. Even your footwear will be an object of scrutiny. You would never be able to avoid every single one of them. At least, every three market days, you’ll see someone who has something to say about something on your body.

After a while, you get used to it and you stop caring. Because you realize that everyone who is preferring advice on how you should look will never lift a finger to help you achieve that look. They can say your clothes are faded, but won’t give you new clothes, they can say your shoes are tacky, but won’t help you get them fixed. In the end, you accept what you can change and live with the ones you can’t. You get to realize that the opinion of people on your physical attributes doesn’t matter.

But then, we can only go so far with that attitude, because when it comes to jobs and interviews, you really have to care what the interviewer thinks of your dress because it can decide how you’ll be treated from then on. Obviously, this doesn’t usually include those who work from home and deal with clients or bosses who are thousands of kilometers away. For instance, I’ve never met any of the people I’ve worked it, I’ve never even seen any of them, so I don’t know what they look like. Yet, almost on a daily basis, we work.

I once heard that when going for an interview at a bank, you have to have at least a touch of the bank’s major colors in your dress. If the colors of the bank were red and white, then your shirt or at the very least, your tie must be red as well. The same for if the colors of the bank were dark blue, sky blue, or even Unicorn blue( I’m sure this is an actual color somewhere in the multiverse😂😂).

When going for an interview, your goal should be to please them. If they’re impressed with your outfit, they might be more willing to listen to whatever jargon you want to spew. However, if your dress is wack by their standards, you might not even get to say anything. The rude ones will bounce right back out just as you’re sauntering in.

Then, there are some jobs that are gender specific, but they’ll never really mention it because it’s not nice to be open about all that. In such cases, it doesn’t matter if the guy is wearing heaven and earth on his body, if the establishment has made up its mind that it wants only females, it won’t change a thing.

Personally, I don’t think it's fair that something as material as physical looks can stand in the way of something as deep as talent and skill. Your looks as an individual aren’t earned. It’s passed onto you by your biological parents, unless you got yours under the knife then you probably won’t be looking for a job because you’d be rich asf!!!😉

Anyway, my point is that it’s not fair that your looks can be the thin line between getting a job and not getting it. You could have all the skills in the world, and you could be the most talented person, but once they judge your book by its cover, they could end up not even bothering to give you a chance to prove your mettle.

But then, we live in a cruel world, right? It’ll be great for skills and talents to be more valued than looks, but that’s not what we’re faced with. We have popular actors who can’t act to save their own lives, but because they’re good-looking, they keep getting all the contracts and keep making all the money. it might not be just, but it’s life. You can’t blame them for looking good and taking advantage of the system. You just have to do your own bit and try to shine on your own terms.

Life would never make sense just because you want it to, you have to make it make sense! That’s the only way you can take what you want from the universe.

Everyone has an idea of how they think your life should be but do not have any idea about thiers; and they can not contribute to the life they suggest for you.

Ladies in the house can recognise those colours you mentioned😅😅. Looks can be of great advantage in life, the other gender, can testify to this. But, it is not fair when look is one of the criteria to securing a job. Look is important maybe for customers but that won't always bring customers.

Very correct, people will see all the things that are wrong in your life, but they'd never see the one in their's. Getting a job gets more and more difficult, that's why many people just choose to run theirs through their connection.

Job is now by connection or you are too good at ehat you do and can't be replaced.

People mostly judge a book by its cover so if you don’t look good for an interview, they may not even want attend to you
Have you seen cases like that?

Hah... I've seen ooo! It's even more common than we think.

Of course, it is true that nowadays clothes are seen first, then morals are given number, but this thing is very wrong, because if a person has good morals, then we must continue our relationship with him.

I guess we have no choice in the grand scheme of things. We simply dress the part, for whatever it is we're going for.

Yeah you are right.

I think it's not right to happen now when people face any interview. I don't like it but we are judged by appearances and in most cases the talent and skills are overlooked. I know it's their choice and we can't force them to change the system but that kind of system is mostly followed in underdeveloped developing countries. I think it's also a reason those countries are underdeveloped countries.

Well, that's one way of looking at it. And coming at it from that angle, you have a point.
