Being a vigilante would be dope. As in ehn, being a creature of the night, jumping across rooftops, and going from alleyway to alleyway as I clean the streets of the criminal elements, it would be a pretty splendid experience. And in a world like mine, where crime has risen to an all-time high, there are so many things that are going wrong right now, having a vigilante would be awesome, right?
Already, we have vigilantes in our local communities. They protect the communities, they’re the ones that patrol the areas. Usually, they’re the indigenes of the land because they’re the only ones who can be trusted with such a task. After all, while every other person can return to their hometown eventually, they won’t. They’ll remain right there.
But then, the only downsides to all this are that their weapons are quite limited. By law, they’re only allowed to use dane guns, and they can only apprehend suspected criminal elements and then report it to the police. Anything beyond that and they would be crossing their legal boundaries. Having such people is good because it shows that while everyone is sleeping, there are people going about making sure that they can have a good night’s sleep.
So, for me, would I love to try being a vigilante? As I said, it would be dope. Especially if I have all the money I’d need to make it happen. But my brand of delivering justice won’t be what is normal, it’ll be like Batman’s. First, beat the living daylight out of them, then send them to the police. That’s the order. Because at this point, we’ve seen time and again that our governments are not really interested in coming to our rescue or helping us. So, if I can afford it, I’ll just take matters into my own hands and protect my people.
But then, this will definitely come at a price. Because once a vigilante is on the scene, disrupting the affairs of criminal elements, coming between them and something that gives them a lot of money, it will come at a great price, because then they will be willing to do anything and everything to bring you down and get rid of you. And sadly, it may also include members of law enforcement as well.
No matter what, there will always be backlash, and everyone who assists you or is even remotely close to you could be caught in the crossfire. This is why it’s so risky and dangerous, not just for you, but for those around you as well. So now, I’ll ask this again, will I love to try being a vigilante? While it would be dope, no. The risks are just too great.
As I’m writing this, I’m using my country’s current state of affairs as a yardstick. If you choose to go into vigilantism, you won’t just be dealing with criminals, you’d also have to deal with corrupt police officers who are sponsoring the criminal elements and the corrupt government officials who are backing the corrupt police officers. It’s a long chain of deception, pain, and trauma. Something that would make for a good story. But sadly, this is our reality, it’s not fiction.
So, what then do I do? Rely on the same government that doesn’t care about my life? How can I be sure they’ll cater to my safety? I can’t be sure, that’s the thing. That’s the reality. Any day at all, and at any time, it can be anyone. And the country won’t even bat an eyelid.
So, maybe yes, I would become a vigilante if I had the chance and the funding to see it happen. Because if people can’t rely on their government, they need someone or something to rely on and to give them hope.

That beating the day light out of them is very important because the kind of crime some people commit is unimaginable. Using a country like ours I'd enough reason and motivation to be a vigilante.
Currently in Nigeria our safety is in our hands, and obviously our government have failed us, if becoming a Vigilante would keep me and my love ones safe , then I would be one.
