Hello everyone, how are you all doing today?

So, yesterday I spoke to you all about love and having to appreciate our better halves. That is why today instead of speaking on yet another holiday, I will talk about loving and appreciating the most important person of all; ourselves.

It is a simple law of nature that cannot be disobeyed no matter how one tries. You simply can’t give something you do not have. For you to be able to see the good in others and love them for who they are, you also have to be able to love yourself for who you are.

In this day and age, with the pressure and responsibility that society keeps mounting on us, it’s easy to just forget about our wellbeing simply because we are considering that of others. But, there is one key thing you have to know; you have a responsibility to your wellbeing as well. You also have to take good care of yourself, so that you can be strong enough to take care of those you love.

You have to start taking those exercises, begin some therapy sessions, go out and gift yourself something you have always wanted or go for that massage you have always longed for. It is never too late for any of that, but whether you like it or not time is going and a time is coming when you will not be able to do much anymore even if you wanted to.

I know that doing things like this might not be easy, especially for those of us with kids and busy schedules. But this is for our wellbeing, we simply have to make a timetable and be intentional about this thing. The truth is that, whether we take time off or not, the responsibilities will still be there. But when we tackle these responsibilities with a refreshed and clear mind as against the usual stressed and tired mind, the difference will always be clear.

This kind of retreat does not have to be for days or long hours, it could be for about thirty minutes when you just kickback from the issues that are stressing you and let your mind settle on something refreshing. But the longer retreats are just as important. It could be vacations or just rendezvous. A time with friends or with family.

What really matters is that we are battling stress.

We will come to realize that if we make this a habit, taking care of ourselves just as much as we take care of our responsibilities, we will always achieve more and be better at the things we do. Because every time we come back to the job, it will always be with a fresher perspective.
