I’ve always wondered why it’s always so easy to do things for strangers than it is to do them for the people around us. Like, many people come online to do giveaways, meanwhile, at home, they have a sister or nephew that needs that very thing that they’re giving out. Imagine giving out phones online, while your own sister is looking for a new phone? Imagine paying school fees for people while your younger brother has to study in a dilapidated government school…
Funny enough, this isn’t just with charity, but with a lot of other elements as well. On this same social media, your friends and family members find it hard to support and engage on your posts, yet you’ll find them commenting, liking, and sharing the content of others who are way more influential, and who will not even notice them.

Why exactly do we do this? Is it just for the optics? I know how important optics are for people, and why they’d see the need to always be seen as philanthropic by the public. After all, when people think you’re charitable, they’ll have more reasons to trust you and follow you, which could lead to even more influence. But that only works for that case. What about the case of friends and family not supporting your business?
I guess there are ways to look at this, and from what I’ve gathered, it looks and feels like sometimes, it’s always just a case of not wanting to be associated with something. The truth is, not everyone wants to be treated as a fan or follower by their own friend or family. And a lot of creators do that. But in the grand scheme of things, one can’t ever really know why some people will just choose not to support those around them.

There could be many reasons, sometimes it could be because of the sibling or friend themselves, but that won’t always be the case. But then, when I think about it, it looks more like when people choose to like and support more popular people, they do it because they’d remain inconspicuous. You’d be shocked at how many people want to remain under the radar and on the low.
When you like a post that already has 100k likes, or you drop a comment on a post with 30k comments, what do you think happens then? You simply become a statistic, another number. And the likes and comments you dropped get lost in the multitude that are on the post at the time. So, it’s easy to get lost and hide in such a place.

But then, with family, it’s usually different. You like a post, and it’s only you who likes it. You drop a comment, and yours is the most relevant one. So, every time, it’s easy to see that you’re following and you’re supporting. A simple click can show just how much of a fan you are. And I guess this is why many people choose to consume content like ghosts. They act like their like button and comments are mineral resources, and if they give it out too much, they’d go bankrupt. So, no matter how much they like your content and they enjoy it, they’d just scroll by. But they enjoyed it, you can bet it that they did.
So, what do you do? Nothing! You just keep doing you! Keep doing what you’re doing and be the best at it. Because eventually, you’d become so big that they’d have no choice but to support you, because anything else would make them look like haters. But by then, it’s too late for them because you already know who was there for you and who wasn’t.

Indeed support comes with a price. If you have fans, you need to be careful not do do something that can hurts fans. I just feel they are in a invisible prison and they can't do many things that they want to do.
Yeah... we have to do well so we don't get carried away.
