It’s funny how many times we all view ourselves as the main character, not just in our stories, but also in the stories of those around us. We feel that the world centers around us, and everything that happens should be to our benefit. We alone know what’s best; we alone know the best way forward for everyone. We’re the saviors of the world, and thus, everyone has to listen to us.
As a result, anyone who fails to see the world through the lens we provide, or fails to even acknowledge us with the same importance, we find them to be insulting and even offensive. Because how dare they? Why can’t they just see how important and smart we are? Why don’t they know that you’re the best person for this?
This can be frustrating, right? Yeah. But then, the truth is, while you’re the main character in your story, everyone else is the main character in theirs. You can’t leave your story and come start telling me how to tell mine. It’s not going to end well for you, I promise. It’s really crazy!
I’ve seen people leave groups simply because other members voted not to use their suggestions. Someone once called off a friendship simply because people didn’t always follow his advice. Like, thanks for your advice and all, but I believe it’s always at my discretion to decide what advice I follow, or don’t you think?
It can be very annoying when people attach so much importance to themselves, making themselves seem way more than they are. And for real, they don’t even know what exactly this is costing them. They view the world through a very myopic lens and refuse to expand their focus. The only way to expand is to admit that you can’t see and know everything, you’ll always need one form of help or the other. That’s why even if you know a thing or two about something, you’ll still leave it to those who know how to handle it best.
A pilot knows a thing or two about being an air hostess, they also know how to keep passengers calm in the event of an emergency. Now, even though the captain is the king of the plane while it’s in the air, you won’t see him doing the air hostess’s job, or telling her how to do it every five seconds. This is because that’s the air hostess’s world and she’s the main character in that story.
As a supervisor on a building project, your job is just to tell the engineers what exactly you want, but you don’t go teaching them how to do their jobs. You stand back and let them do it. Not imposing and telling them how to lay down bricks or teach them the right way to connect wires. The only time you’d be allowed to interfere will be when things don’t go as planned and the people in charge are messing up. But as long as everyone is capable, let them live out their own stories.
Many people have this issue. They believe that everyone should hold them in the high regard they see themselves. But that’s not always going to be the case, because in the end, people will only view you as they choose to view you. People will decide the value they want to attach to the things you say and do, they will decide if you’re worth following or if they should simply ignore you.
Maybe when we accept this fact, we’ll know better than to get pissed when people refuse to follow our advice.

If you think you as a main character, it will be burden for you. In my case I don't think I am the main character and I think myself as the below average person doesn't matter what kind of capability I have. Such a mindset allow me not to think highly about me and my influences and so I expect others to think highly about me or do something for me. Life without having the thought of main character seems peaceful to me.
