Social media apps have come to be one of the most important tools of modern times. Like, with every day that passes, we need them more and more. From connecting with friends and family, to networking, and even being up to date with the events of the world. Social media has always kept us at the forefront of information. Not just any information, but info that’s directly from the original source, not what the government prefers to tell.
And as a result, more and more people prefer to rely on social media for all their media-related needs. I barely watch TV anymore. I see all my movies and shows on my phone. To follow the news, I simply get it online, on my phone. This is because most news agencies have social media handles where they post breaking news. Besides, provided you’re active online, you can’t really miss any major events that happen around you.
But then, if I had to ban one platform, what would it be? You see, I’m pretty active online. Not just here on Hive, I’m also active on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and even YouTube. They’re platforms where I spend a significant amount of time and energy. Besides being a consumer, I also create, which is not easy at all. But then, I do it, knowing that something could be born of it. There seem to be benefits of having such platforms around, and while those benefits might be hard to get, it sure encourages one to give it a fighting chance.
But I don’t feel this way about Snapchat. Honestly, till tomorrow, I won’t really know what exactly that platform is used for. Besides taking pictures and running them through filters, what else can one gain from Snapchat? It’s not like the other platforms are without their issues, but I’ve heard so many things about Snapchat that many times, I just have to shake my head. Like, is this the same app we’re using?
So then, as a result, I don’t think I’d let it stay around. I’d definitely ban it and have it done with. The thing is, I suspect that Snapchat has a more in-depth security feature that protects people’s privacy, which is why many people use it for things that they can’t attempt on other platforms. But for me, I just can’t see it. When I go on the app, I usually spend the first ten minutes confused, trying to find my way around. By the time I finally get the hang of it, I’m tired of the app.
Will it make any major difference? I really doubt that. It’s just one app, and while it might cause a setback, it will only take a while before people recover and find something else that will replace it. That’s just how it is. At this point, I don’t think it’s easy to stop anything because the things happening on one app happen on other apps as well. And as long as there are people who are interested in such a way of life, there will always be platforms that can cater to that.

Same here, I don't really know much about Snapchat, except for filters and snapping of pictures. Even though I have a Snapchat account I can't even remember when Iast I logged in into that Snapchat account.
As in ehn... I don't think I still have the app on my phone even.

I didn't install the app, also like TikTok. As far as I have seen, many others are using it, but I have seen it mostly for using a filter in a picture. Some of those filters are quite good also, but except for the filter in the picture, I don't know other use cases for them. So, I can't say if it should be banned or not.
Yeah... which is why I still wonder why people use that app. It's just crazy!
