Hello everyone, how are you doing on this beautiful day? I know for sure that I am doing very fine.

There is something I want to talk about, something I am sure a lot of us that work usually face from time to time. It creeps up on us, affecting our lives without us even noticing it. And by the time we do notice it, the damage would have been done and there would be nothing else to do.

And this thing I am talking about is balance.

If there is one thing we must learn as workers, it is how to balance our work life with our personal life. Many of you know what I am talking about and you know it is downright difficult seeing as both are part of who you are.

You will see that there are times you let your work interfere with your personal life. It could be that after the close of work when you go home you take some office documents with you so you can continue the work there, and this takes time that you would have spent with your family away from you. Also, it could be that during weekends when you are meant to relax with friends and loved ones to prepare for the coming week, you spend it in the office trying to catch up or best your peers. There is yet another scenario where you fail to take time off just because of one reason or the other.

These things I have mentioned above are typical examples of imbalance. It is the situation when you let your work take over your personal time so that you no longer seem to have much time for yourself. And this is bad. I do not think this fact can ever be overemphasized.

The truth of the matter is that when you spend more time on work, you get to spend less time on family, friends, or yourself. And this does not go well for you, because in the long run, you will find out that you have little or no friends because the ones you had have all moved on seeing as you failed to pay them much attention.

I know that work is important, of course, it is what keeps food on the table. But I also know that family is important, and the relationship we build with our children will go a long way in shaping their future and what they think of us.

I am not saying you should be inefficient when you work, that would definitely get you sacked. Instead, when you are at work, work it with all your mind and strength. Give the job everything you’ve got. And then at the close of work, pack up and go home.

Make sure you leave all work-related things at work so you will not be tempted at all. Then you go home and spend quality time with family and friends. And for those that probably stay alone, you are no different. Just because you live alone does not mean you do not deserve a good life, or a social one for that matter. You also need a personal life where all that matters will only be your needs and what will make you a better person.

The good life can go to everybody; you just have to make it come to you.

So, on this beautiful day, as work closes, make sure you leave all work stuff back at the office. And if you work from home like me, just leave them on the work desk and do not return to it until tomorrow. You will come back refreshed and ready to tackle whatever problem might arise.

I understand what you are saying, but it can be hard depending on the kind of work you do, one can never underestimate the fact that there should be a proper balance between work and personal life.

You are right, It can be hard, in fact, it is hard. That is why it is a bit difficult to avoid. One has to be intentional about it so that we do not let the work take over.
Thank you very much for reading.
