Hello everyone, my name is Chinaza Esther
I remember when I was young and and in school, then our teachers/lecturers would ask us what we would like to be in future, we would mention "Doctor", "Lawyer", "CEO" "Businesswoman/man" and others but nobody would make the mistake of saying a "Teacher ". Then teacher/lecturer would ask "why didn't anybody talk about being a teacher and we would all echo "NO"!
So, now I'm grown, I'm done with school and looking for a job but non was forthcoming, then I decided to apply as a teacher in a nursery school because I always find myself drawn and care so much for children. Guess what? I got the job!
It wasn't easy at first, it was stressful and I would always come home with headache and feeling dizzy.
I started advising myself on how to take care of these little humans without having to shout so loud and making it seem like a difficult job.
I started looking for fun ways to engage them while I'm teaching for them to understand and memorize everything I teach them . I sing, demonstrate and make every one them feel very special and they love it a lot.
I have a student that isn't so sound and some people do toss him aside or stay away from him. He was in grade one when I started teaching but now in my class. I wanted to do same thing by keeping him in one corner and not paying much attention to him. But I thought to myself "since I've decided to take these children as mine while in my care, why should this particular one be an exception?".
I had to device means to get him to be active with others and I must say that I'm happy with the result. For the first time today, the little boy actually gave me a handshake and even answered to my calling.
This teaching wasn't actually wanted for myself but I'll say that I'm loving every bit of it.
I used to be an introvert... always scared to standout and in front many, but I've conquered that stage fright.
What I'm saying in essence is, we should always try as much as possible to be the best at we do because it pays. You may not see the need or rewards now, but I tell you this for free, the future knows it.
