Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt, tales of history.
I have come to observe that people who tell history are those people who are victorious; a failure can never tell a history. It is only someone who wears the crown of victory that will proudly tell their story for people to believe, and when they are telling their stories, they will share them in a way that it will gladly touch their heart. Most times I ask myself, what of people who create history but they are not celebrated? Probably because they lost their life or because their history was not recorded.
When I was in secondary school, history happened to be my best subject. I love reading history. I was so curious when it came to gathering information; I read history as if my life depended on it. I came to understand that some of this history is false; there are untold stories behind those histories. The reason is that the people telling this story leave the truth behind and all come with the part that will favour them and the part that they want the people to believe.
After reading many history books and from the story my granny told me, I get to understand that most of the heroes we celebrate today are not as perfect as we thought they were; they also have their wrong side, but all that is penned down is their victory, leaving their bad side behind. I strongly believe that no man is perfect; why then is history painting them as perfect?
Back then my history teacher would always tell me that life is a history coming to reality. Indeed, life is a history; yesterday is already a history of today. That is how life is wired.
Let's go back to the civil war between Nigeria and the people of Biafra. Till today I am still eager to find out the truth behind that history. To me there are thousands of truths that are being hidden in that story. The part of what started the war between Nigeria and Biafra is not discussed properly. The painful part of the history is not written because my granny, who was a soldier during the war, told us a different story before he died, and the history book is telling me another story.
It has already been written, so we have no choice other than to believe them. After all, we were not there when the history happened, so whatever part they tell us, we have to believe them. That is the part they want us to know so that we will keep celebrating and praising them.
When it comes to history, it is based on perspective. That is why you can’t trust everything written in history to be right. When it comes to my country, history is full of lies. I don’t trust it at all. We should always seek for clarity. Hear from both sides to know who is saying the truth. History can be rewritten if you can tell yourself the truth.

It was a great read, thank you for reminding us to always question and explore beyond the written records.
That is the painful thing about history, the writer dictates what story will be told which means the composition of history is subjective to perspective of the writer.
