Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt: a reading habit.
Reading is one habit I don’t joke with. Right from my childhood, I loved reading anything that I came across. I would always borrow novels from the library every weekend to return the next week. Back then my mate saved up their money to buy clothes; I was only saving to buy books for you to see how much I love reading. I always recommend books for my classmates to read.
There is this joy inside me whenever I turn those novel pages, one by one, and whenever I am reading, my parents don’t disturb me, and it saves me most times from chores at home. My parents will never disturb you once you are ready with your book. Reading was a kind of escape for me.
But now adulthood will not readily give me a chance to read like before because responsibilities are many. But any little time that comes my way, I utilise it to read one or two novels sitting under the mango tree and sipping cool juice. I am ready to sit down here reading for eight hours.
I swear it has really been long since I read a physical book. I can’t even remember the last time I sat down and turned a book page by page. I read from my phone; it is easier and more convenient for me. I can read anywhere. Most times when I am out for lunch, I will be reading and eating my lunch. For me, it spices up my meal. I don’t know if I am the only one that feels that way. Physical reading is cool, but everything about the world is going digital now, and I prefer the digital reading.
The last physical book I read was Purple Hibiscus, a Nigerian novel centred on Nigerian culture and colonialism, written by the great author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The novel is centred on Kambili Achike, a 15-year-old girl who was struggling with expressing herself due to her father's strict Catholic rules. Their lifestyle has been decided by their father, Eugene. Eugene is a devoted Catholic who doesn’t joke with the things of God, but his family is never happy when looking at him; he is so perfect outside, but inside he is violent. Kambili started finding her voice when they went to visit Aunt Ifeoma.

I will not lie; I enjoyed every bit of this novel. When I was reading this novel, I was so curious because I needed to know what the next page was talking about. Everything was there; there was nothing to distract me, no notifications, and I didn’t have to expose my eyes to a screen.
One of these days I will read a physical book because I miss sitting under the mango receiving a cool breeze, turning the novel page by page. Before the month ends, I will read a physical book. If there is anything I love so much, it is reading novels.
This is my entry on the weekly prompts #hivelearners #hl-w186e2 reading habit.
Thank you for stopping by in my blog. I appreciate your support; comments and upvotes do have a lovely day.

Both physically and digital books have their good and bad sides. I am for physical books though.. but I understand your points on convenience when it comes to digital books. You can read anywhere and anytime..
