Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt: unrealistic standards.
Unrealistic standards of life always make people pursue shadows instead of being their real selves. All they are after is perfection, which makes them live another person's life instead of their own. Most people end up regretting their actions, all in the name of wanting to achieve unrealistic standards. Most people have lost their lives due to this effect.
One thing about unrealistic standards is the people who are involved keep setting impossible goals, and at the end, if they didn’t achieve it, they will be disappointed, and if time is not taken, they will be depressed and frustrated. The high rate of unrealistic standards in social media is really alarming.
There are these unrealistic standards that always pain me. The pressure on men is too much. When a man gets to a certain age, he is expected to be well-to-do and able to take up responsibilities in the family, and when he gets to that age, society looks up to him, and he has nothing to show. Society, friends and family will look down at him; he will be tagged a failure, and if the man is not strong, he will be depressed because people around him will make life a living hell for him to live.
One thing we fail to understand is that the sky is too big for everyone to fly. For the fact that he was unable to make it at that certain age that the society looks up to, that doesn’t mean he is a failure. We have our different destinies; some are destined to make money at an earlier age, while for some, their children will make the money while they enjoy it in their old age.
We need to understand that all fingers are not equal and everyone has a time frame. We need to understand that the universe has a way it plans things; instead of pressurising them, support them.
Another is pressure coming from family; once a female child gets to an age of marriage, society makes them feel less of themselves. The pressure becomes much greater once the person has clocked age 35; due to the pressure, the majority of them enter into wrong marriages that are full of regret. If time is not taken, they will all die in the name of marriage.
For some, like me, I don’t allow unrealistic standards to pressurise me into something that I will regret in the long term. I stay away from people that look down on me, and I stay away from people that will pressurise me. I involve myself in things that give me peace of mind.
I know that I am not perfect, and I can never be perfect. All I am after is progress and not perfection. I am contented with whatever I have; I don’t compare myself with someone or try to live up to a standard of someone else.

I think we are alike in this aspect of staying away from people that look down on me, and also staying away from people that will pressurize.
I have grown to love my peace.
Even if I see a friend on social media with a car, I just congratulate the person and keeping doing my own thing.

Sincerely, I have seen people put themselves under unnecessary pressure just because they want to be like this or wants to satisfy someone especially for women but at the long run I realised that it doesn't worth it
