I've never seen equal fingers since I've existed on planet earth. I was born to understand that all fingers are not equal. While this is till today on point as an African proverb, we cannot undermine the importance of each finger. Whether short or long, each has its usefulness, and their coexistence makes them have one fundamental uniqueness, which is grasping
We all work to put food on our tables. And I'm sure that we are all working differently. In Nigeria, There are different types of workers. We have government workers, which are called civil servants. There are also private organizations I.e, those seeing to the affairs of their businesses and the sole controllers. They employ and pay workers based on their designed salary scale. We also have hand workers that bill you based on the services you require from them, and there's also a fixed price for some services rendered by them. In a nutshell, when people work, they are either placed on wages or salary, and the amount varies
But, would it be good to make all and sundry earn the same salary? Well as for me, I don't think I would go with that. There are different professions as we know and importance is accorded to each as dim. Some workers are risking their lives for the citizens. Such people should be treated differently. Some are amateurs that are just gaining experiences in their field. We cannot compare them with the professionals. There's always an organogram and I think it's a good thing. People should be allowed to graduate from one level to another. It makes them aim for the better and do things the right way. But still, it's important that we are all treated well irrespective of our level at the place of work
What about the same work, equal pay?
Every individual employed to do the same work should be placed on the same wages irrespective of their gender. When one is employed as a customer service representative, every other person employed as the same should be entitled to whatever wages or benefits given. There should be no discrimination in that regard. In fact, it's stated by law that equal work should accompany equal pay. Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing. The only area where I think there should be a difference is where there's a promotion to another level. Once one goes higher, the pay can differ
It's good to have a good pay
No one wouldn't like to smile home with a bag of money at the end of the month. The joy of workers is to earn pretty well. It's a motivation. One thing I would have loved to do if I had the power is to make the workers minimum wages mouth watering. Same pay or not, if the minimum wage is captivating, there won't be grumbling. For instance, the minimum wage in Nigeria is #35,000, which is far not enough to sustain a lad, let alone a whole family. A minimum wage of #150,000 should help a little, if the economic situation of the country didn't decline further. I just hope that one day, every workers would be able to smile home at the end of the month with an amount that would always make them want to sleep at work without going home. Lol

In countries where unemployment is high, wages and salaries are often low because there is always someone ready to take the vacancy. As a result people are compelled to perform jobs at lower price.
Equal pay to everyone doesn't make sense to me either. However, equal pay for equal work is something that should be considered

Indeed every worker is entitled to his or her pay but then it is not out of place to reward some workers more because of their input. I believe that will encourage the others to do better so as to get more rewards.
Motivation is a good one at least to ginger and appreciate good works. Awards can be given to worker who depict quality work. It's the uniqueness that makes people stand out, and that is what takes them to a higher level at work. Thanks for the support.
