Nigeria is a country located in the Western part of the African continent with a population size of over 180 million people and an estimation of roughly 260 ethnic groups and languages. Endowed with numerous natural resources and the work force to match this unlimited potentials, it is sometimes referred to as the Giant of Africa and its citizens have continued to prove why they are deserving of that title both at home and in the diaspora.

Having a very rich history tracing all the way from when the country was just an entity characterized by kingdoms, empires and tribes to when it finally gained its name during the colonization and amalgamation of all its territories before gaining independence thanks to the struggle from our past heroes. As a Nigerian it is an honour to carry on this great name with pride, protect the integrity of this great nation and continue to boost its reputation positively to the best of my ability. However there are still a few bad things this country is known for that is directly restricting sustainable growth in some aspects, one of which is the bad name caused by the never ending presence of scammers in Nigeria.

The alarming nationwide epidemic popularly known as yahoo yahoo is now a full blown problem that can no longer be ignored. it is so bad that as populated as this country is everybody is either related to a scammer or at the very least friends with one and the worst part is the entire world knows about it even going as far as labelling us as the home of scammers. Western cartoons and American films sometimes mention Nigerians in their works as people to be weary or else you lose all your possessions. It all seemed harmless enough from the beginning but currently innocent law abiding citizens who have no part in this way of life are slowly losing life changing opportunities strictly because they are from a country that is known for breeding untrustworthy swindlers.

Nevertheless, despite this negative publicity caused by desperation, one good thing you can never take away from us or deny its presence is the intelligence of Nigerians. I mean just look at the world today, it has been proven that there is a Nigerian in every country and the best part is they always stand out whether it is academically, Science, tech space or in the world of business. Whenever a Nigerian gets a scholarship to study abroad, they always end up being one of the top students of their respective classes even though they have other activities they engage in to support themselves financially.

I once read an article where the author said that Nigerians are incredibly smart and that includes the scammers as well because even that particular lifestyle needs some sort of intelligence to pull off a win as it is not easy to fool a full grown adult off their savings coupled with the fact that there's a distance barrier. He further stated that the youths are brain boxes that have channeling their skills in the wrong direction due to the sorru state of the country and to be honest I don't think one can argue with the authenticity of his words.

There is no country under the sun that doesn't bother a good and a bad side as both elements kinda coexist to strike a balance. The best thing to do is learn how to manage the bad so it doesn't overwhelm the good and also focus more on the positive to boost the country's image. For Nigeria, most of our problems are caused by terrible leaders and that also includes the plague of scammers. The moment the elites start to do what they are supposed to do, I am 100% certain that there would be a drastic drop in this particular lifestyle, I just hope they finally listen to cry of the masses instead of their own coffers else this will deteriorate into the worst possible outcome.
Thank you

Honestly Nigeria is so blessed, it only hurts that the bad are now overshadowing the good if not tell me why almost all foreigners want to come visit especially for the vibes and good life.
