Two months ago we received an invitation from the Navy base in Igbokoda to celebrate the arrival of new corp members in Ilaje local government area. The theme for the party was simple - Game night with cash prizes attached to every activity including dancing.... The whole thing sounded too good to be true but I'll be damned if I was going to miss out on a free party filled with food, drinks and food with the level of boredom I have been experiencing since I got here. Right from the moment of my arrival in Igbokoda, it is becoming extremely difficult to battle boredom as there was almost nothing to do here. Everyday feels the same including my days off from work because I have close to nowhere to go to and the scotching heat only adds salt to injury. In normal circumstances I wouldn't have attended the party as the invitation dropped 11 hours before time but the excitement that comes with trying something new in this somewhat dry place pushed not just me but the entire Corpers lodge residence into attending.

The indoor gaming event was supposed to commence by 8 pm but before 7:30, I was already at the venue because I wanted to get a very good seat. By past 9 the place was already chocked with smiling faces and teeth working overtime from excessive chewing. The games were quite simple but I guess my competitive spirit was low as I lost every game I participated in from the first round.

The first game had a cash prize of 10 thousand naira and I got eliminated by a girl I kept telling that she was not a challenge right from home. After losing my third game in a row I decided to just sit back and enjoy the show as the night was obviously not for me. While I was conversing with a friend, someone was sharing slices of cake and seeing that everyone was getting a slice I decided to grab some as well. The cake looked funny so I asked if it had anything in it and the receptionist said it was just a normal cake. I still waited to see if anybody would react to it a few minutes after eating but nothing happened so I ate it all up.

It didn't take long after eating my first slice, I went back for seconds, a third until I lost count of how many cakes I had eaten. When it was time to finally step on the dance floor, my legs became stiff and my eyes heavy. It was at that point I knew those cakes were not ordinary at all, they were the so-called brownies I keep hearing about from people which supposedly takes one to cloud nine. Worried I might create a scene as I barely had any control over my actions since the effects of the brownies were taking over, I begged the guy close to me to take me home as soon as possible. We walked back home together before the party ended and I somehow found my way straight to the bed but I could not sleep.

I stood up to go use the toilet and since the restroom was outside, I had to leave the room. I left the room and headed straight for the toilet but unfortunately I never made it back to my bed as I fell asleep right in front of neighbors. It took three guys to take me back to my room but unfortunately for me it was already too late as some of my friends already took pictures of me sleeping outside. The craziest part about this whole embarrassing experience was the fact that I was completely conscious about everything happening around me but had zero control over anything.

It took me two complete days to recover from that form of highness. I don't think I will ever attend any party here even if they are handing out free iPhones. In my attempt to fight boredom, I ended up fighting for my life... This is one experience I hope to never go through ever again as I am still being humiliated with pictures of crazy sleeping posture and a new nickname THE MOST HIGH.
