Since this monetization came out, the way we view work , purpose, and success has entirely changed. It has turned ordinary regular social media scrollers to influencers, comedians, motivational speakers and entertainers sometimes without them planning it. Before monetization people created content simply because they enjoyed doing it. They just wanted to share their joy, talent, and their ideas with the world . And it was fun then but since money entered the picture, the story changed.

Suddenly everybody is a content creator, every single post now has potential value. A funny video can pay rent, a story time can now buy groceries . One viral video can change someone's life forever . To be honest monetization has been a blessing to many people, it has helped people and families that are struggling financially to find a way . It has actually opened doors where doors never existed. But then there is a saying that some good things carry evil too. Monetization has put a new kind of pressure in almost everybody's mind.
These days people no longer create content out of inspiration but out of desperation . Instead of posting what they love, they now post what they think will go viral, many people have forced themselves into characters that they can't even explain anymore. Because view has become income and engagement survival. There was this video of a lady that at first I thought her neighbor was looking for trouble and they fought. She was just wearing pants and a bra , a very thick lady. Before you know it becomes her regular content to be wearing bra and pant and be looking for trouble all in the name of monetization.
She is not the only one, now you see people doing extreme, sometimes outrageous content not necessarily because they want to but because they feel that's what people like . I know money changes people but now is changing intention too and presently intention shifts, authenticity becomes harder to maintain.
One uncomfortable truth is that monetization has made plenty of young people lazy, they believe that doing a physical job is no longer necessary. I don't blame them much because why learn a skill when someone your age or below your age is earning online from a 20 second video. What's the need for 9 to 5 that they pay very low, when someone else is cashing out through controversy? It can actually make real effort feel pointless.

The problem right now is not the platform nor is it the money involved but what we now value.the internet hails rubbish instead of talent. Whether something is meaningful or not it doesn't matter anymore as long as the like and view keeps pouring in. Because of that people no longer feel motivated to grow , learn, or even develop themselves. They are now waiting for luck to come their way instead of building their foundation.
The truth is monetization isn't bad. But it requires discipline, self awareness, and boundaries. If we allow our need for quick income to replace purpose, skill, and character then monetization becomes a trap. But If we approach it with the intention it's has always been, then monetization becomes an opportunity countless generations before us never had.
