Ali’s Story
I asked Ali why he wanted to start a business when he was so good at studies.
His eyes sparkled and he replied,
"Uncle, I love business with a passion. Just like a fish lives in water, my heart lives in business."
I stayed quiet because his passion was remarkable.
He scored well in matric and the family insisted he follow the path to engineering.
But Ali wanted something else. He joined college but also decided to start a business.
This was the beginning of his trials.
The first advice he got was:
"Get a job. Business is risky."
Ali asked,
"Why are we so afraid of risk? Is the safest path the only path in life?"
Then came the pressure for education.
"Study more, get a degree and you will get a job."
Ali replied,
"Is a degree only a means to get a job? Are we killing the true purpose of education?"
He said he would study further but not for a job, rather to improve his business.
The biggest challenge was capital.
The bank refused and relatives backed out.
Ali came to me and asked,
"Is starting a business only a right for the rich?"
He didn’t give up and somehow managed to get a small loan.
Then he faced the most painful part. Friends and relatives stepped away.
"Are our relationships meant only for good days?"
He endured everything.
When his business started growing, big dealers crushed prices just to destroy him.
He said,
"Does being big mean crushing the small?"
Some time later he came to me with tears saying,
"Uncle, I feel like giving up."
I told him,
"People who plant trees don’t wait to see if storms will come. They simply do their duty."
علی کی کہانی
بھئی، تم پڑھائی میں اتنے اچھے ہو، کاروبار کیوں کرنا چاہتے ہو۔۔۔؟
میں نے سوال کیا تو اس کی آنکھوں میں ایک عجیب سی چمک آگئی۔ وہ چائے کی چسکی لے کر بولا:
"انکل! مجھے بزنس جنون کی حد تک پسند ہے، جیسے مچھلی پانی میں رہتی ہے، میرا دل کاروبار میں لگتا ہے۔"
میں خاموش ہو گیا کیونکہ اس کا جذبہ قابل قدر تھا۔
میٹرک میں اس کے نمبر اچھے تھے۔ گھر والوں نے کہا:
"بیٹا، انٹر کرو، پھر انجینئر بن جانا۔"
مگر علی کا دل کچھ اور چاہتا تھا۔ کالج میں داخلہ لیا مگر ساتھ کاروبار شروع کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔
یہیں سے اس کی آزمائشیں شروع ہوئیں۔
پہلا مشورہ یہ ملا:
"بیٹا نوکری کر لو۔ کاروبار میں خطرہ ہے۔"
علی نے کہا:
"ہم خطرے سے اتنا کیوں ڈرتے ہیں؟ کیا محفوظ راستہ ہی زندگی ہے؟"
پھر تعلیم کا دباؤ آیا۔
"مزید پڑھو، ڈگری لو، نوکری مل جائے گی۔"
علی نے کہا:
"کیا ڈگری صرف نوکری کا ذریعہ ہے؟ کیا ہم تعلیم کی روح کو نہیں مار رہے؟"
وہ کہتا تھا کہ میں اعلیٰ تعلیم لوں گا مگر نوکری کے لیے نہیں بلکہ کاروبار کو بہتر بنانے کے لیے۔
سرمائے کی کمی سب سے بڑا مسئلہ تھی۔
بینک نے انکار کیا، رشتہ داروں نے معذرت کی۔
علی میرے پاس آ کر بولا:
"کیا کاروبار صرف امیروں کا حق ہے؟"
اس نے ہمت نہ ہاری اور کہیں سے لون لے لیا۔
پھر سب سے بڑا دکھ اس نے اپنوں سے پایا۔ دوست اور رشتے دار ساتھ چھوڑ گئے۔
"کیا ہماری دوستیاں صرف خوشی کے دنوں کے لیے ہیں؟"
اس نے یہ سب برداشت کر لیا۔
جب اس کا کام چلنے لگا تو بڑے ڈیلرز نے دام اتنے کم کر دیے کہ اس کا کاروبار بیٹھنے لگا۔
وہ بولا:
"کیا بڑا ہونا چھوٹوں کو کچلنے کا نام ہے؟"
کچھ عرصہ بعد وہ میرے پاس آیا اور نم آنکھوں سے کہا:
"انکل، میں ہار ماننے لگا ہوں۔"
میں نے کہا:
"جو لوگ درخت لگاتے ہیں وہ طوفان کا انتظار نہیں کرتے۔ وہ اپنا فرض نبھاتے ہیں۔"
