My Father's Stroke
I’ve wanted to share this for a while, but it’s been hard to gather the courage. My father suffered a stroke on February 17th. Since then, our lives have changed in ways I never imagined.
Medical Reports and Diagnosis
ECG Report:
- Sinus mode tachycardia (fast heart rate)
- Left axis deviation (abnormal heart electrical axis)
- ST depression, mild apical ischemia (reduced blood flow to the heart's apex)
Echocardiography Report:
- Normal heart function
- Mild tricuspid valve leak (not significant)
X-ray Report:
- Suggests an infective cause
Abdominal Ultrasound:
- Liver enlargement (hepatomegaly)
Carotid Doppler:
- Normal blood flow in carotid arteries
- No blockages or narrowing
Blood Test:
- Elevated Creatine Kinase (CK) level (107 U/L, normal <256 U/L) indicating muscle stress or damage
- Mild potassium deficiency
MRI Report:
- Small abnormal area in the left thalamus indicating an acute infarct (stroke)
- No bleeding or mass effects
- Right-sided weakness
A Daughter's Comfort: Carrot Pudding
My sister made carrot pudding (Gajar ka Halwa) for our father. On top, she wrote an Urdu poetry:
"Dad, if I make a mistake, please scold me but never leave me."
Her gesture was a way of showing love and reminding him how much he means to us just as every father means the world to his daughter.
Massaging My Father's Feet
Because of his weakness, I often massaged his feet in the hospital. This may just look like a simple picture, but for a child massaging their father without knowing what tomorrow holds it’s an experience that’s hard to describe.
I wanted to capture that moment forever.

I created this piece during the two weeks my father was hospitalized. Time was scarce visitors came and went constantly, and whenever I returned home, there was always something to do.
In this artwork, I represented the effects of the stroke on the brain and heart through an artistic lens. The black lines moving outward symbolize healing, as if negative energy is leaving while purity and positivity remain.
Why These Colors?
Each color has a purpose:

Green Growth
Yellow Energy
Grey Mystery

Current Condition: What Lies Ahead
Since his discharge, my father has undergone regular tests and diagnoses. He continues to receive physiotherapy and can now walk with a stick for support.
Doctors have warned us that the next two months are critical, with an increased risk of a second stroke or heart failure. We remain cautious and hopeful.
I appreciate you reading this story and being a part of this personal chapter of my life.

Indeed, the doctor was giving him medication to prevent heart failure, so I asked for more details and learned about the critical situation.
I am also planning to publish a blog to raise awareness about strokes. I hope it helps people respond effectively with the right knowledge. Did you know you shouldn't feed someone who might be having a stroke? They may have difficulty swallowing, and doing so could cause further complications.

Yes, absolutely. Being an only son is very challenging, especially when it comes to taking care of your parents and becoming the head of the family.
I am also learning myself, and I might explain these health complications in my future blogs so others can be more careful.
I have encountered life and death situations for my father and mother both. It's such a moment that can give you a feeling of hell. So, I can guess how difficult it is to cross the time and how thoughts become complex as in such kind a situation negative thoughts can take control for some moments as we fear to lose them.
In the case of drawing I don't know too much, but I think you just tried to express your thoughts through it.

I understand that during such times, negative thoughts can easily take over. However, as Hivers, we are incredibly lucky to have a supportive community. Gwanjnberg/Rantree played a significant role in supporting me through this difficult time. He shared personal stories about his relatives, which gave me strength. Instead of offering sugar-coated reassurances, he provided realistic and fact-based insights. Without his support, it would have been much harder for me to cope.
Many other Hivers also shared stories about their mothers-in-law, mother, and personal experiences, which further encouraged me. I also learned about several Hivers who are themselves stroke survivors. Their support and shared experiences gave me the strength and courage to face this challenging situation.
I'm glad your father is home and is receiving physio treatment. It will be a long road, but with patience and determination, and support from the family I'm sure he will make very good progress

I am taking art more seriously and learning Adobe Photoshop. I’m creating GIF compilations of all my artwork. My goal is to make viewers stay for at least 30 seconds on one of these compilations, especially those who don’t know me or aren’t fans of my work yet. If I can attract more views and traffic from Web2, that could be interesting. Art compilations can definitely help with this.
Additionally, I need to edit all my art posts to improve the size and quality of the images, which adds extra work. I’m also exploring GIPHY to expand my reach.
