Two Different Creatures Living in the Same Country
This is from the year 2018 when Kanza Rizwan got admission in matric. There she met a classmate named Yasmeen. With the passage of time, both Kanza and Yasmeen became close friends. Kanza belonged to a rich family while Yasmeen came from a poor household.
Kanza liked math very much, which is why when she got first position in the monthly test, she arranged a small party to celebrate that happiness.
Kanza invited Yasmeen to that party too. When she reached there with a gift, she saw that it was a very lavish arrangement. But what surprised her was that there were only 10 to 12 guests, yet the lawn was decorated in a fancy and elegant way. Similarly, the food arranged was enough for about 50 people.
After dinner, when the leftover food was being thrown away, Yasmeen’s eyes became teary. She said:
"The food you are wasting in one night is equal to the food my entire family eats in a week."
Hearing this, Kanza was shocked. She asked:
"Really?"
Yasmeen replied:
"Yes. For you this is just a party but for me this is a beautiful dream."

یہ بات ہے 2018 کی، جب کنزہ رضوان نے میٹرک میں داخلہ لیا۔ وہیں اس کی ملاقات یاسمین نامی اپنی ایک ہم کلاس سے ہوئی۔ وقت کے ساتھ ساتھ کنزا اور یاسمین دونوں گہری سہیلیاں بن گئیں۔ کنزا امیر گھرانے کی بیٹی تھی جبکہ یاسمین ایک غریب خاندان سے تعلق رکھتی تھی۔
کنزا کو میتھ بہت پسند تھی، اسی وجہ سے جب منتھلی ٹیسٹ میں اس کی فرسٹ پوزیشن آئی تو اس نے اس خوشی کو سیلیبریٹ کرنے کے لیے ایک چھوٹی سی پارٹی رکھی۔
کنزا نے اس پارٹی میں یاسمین کو بھی دعوت دی۔ جب وہ تحفہ لے کر اس کے ہاں پہنچی تو اس نے دیکھا کہ بہت پرتکلف دعوت تھی۔ مگر اسے یہ حیرت انگیز بات لگی کہ وہاں صرف 10 سے 12 مہمان تھے لیکن گھر کے لان کو بڑا فینسی اور نفیس سا سجایا گیا تھا۔ اسی طرح کھانے کا انتظام بھی تقریباً 50 افراد جتنا تھا۔
رات کے کھانے کے بعد جب بچا ہوا کھانا پھینکا جا رہا تھا تو یاسمین کی آنکھیں نم ہوگئیں۔ اس نے کہا:
"تم ایک رات میں جو کھانا ضائع کر رہی ہو وہ تو میرے پورے خاندان کے ایک ہفتے کے کھانے کے برابر ہے۔"
یہ سن کر کنزہ حیران رہ گئی۔ اس نے پوچھا:
"سچ میں؟"
یاسمین نے جواب دیا:
"ہاں۔ تمہارے لیے تو یہ محض ایک دعوت ہے مگر میرے لیے تو یہ ایک خوبصورت سا خواب ہے۔"
Are They Really Living in the Same System?
Were these two girls living in the same city?
Were they living under the same system?
Yes dear readers. And the bitter truth is that income inequality has divided our society into two parts. On one side are those who have dreams and go to any extent to fulfill them. On the other side are those whose courage to dream has already broken.
Have you ever noticed that at the same time one person sends his child to a school with fees in the hundreds of thousands, and on that same day somewhere else another person withdraws his child from school and sends him to work because in these times of inflation he cannot afford school uniform and books.
Here a valid question arises. Are both these people citizens of the same system?
کیا واقعی یہ دونوں ایک ہی نظام میں رہتی تھیں؟
کیا یہ دونوں لڑکیاں ایک ہی شہر میں رہتی تھیں؟
کیا یہ دونوں ایک ہی نظام کے تحت زندگی گزار رہی تھیں؟
جی ہاں قارئین۔ اور اس سے بڑھ کر سچ تو یہ ہے کہ آمدنی کی عدم مساوات نے ہمارے معاشرے کو دو حصوں میں تقسیم کر دیا ہے۔ ایک طرف وہ لوگ ہیں جن کے خواب ہوتے ہیں اور وہ انہیں پورا کرنے کے لیے کسی بھی حد تک جاتے ہیں۔ دوسری طرف وہ جن کے خواب دیکھنے کی ہمت بھی ٹوٹ چکی ہے۔
کیا آپ نے کبھی غور کیا کہ ایک شخص اپنے بچے کو لاکھوں کی فیس والے اسکول میں بھیجتا ہے اور عین اسی دن کہیں کوئی دوسرا شخص اپنے بچے سے اسکول چھڑوا کر مزدوری پر لگا دیتا ہے کیونکہ مہنگائی میں وہ اسکول یونیفارم اور کتابیں افورڈ نہیں کر سکتا۔
یہاں بجا طور پر سوال پیدا ہوتا ہے کہ کیا یہ دونوں ایک ہی نظام کے شہری ہیں؟
A Deepening Divide
The truth is that we live in a society where one person’s one day income can be more than another person’s entire lifetime income.
Is this justice?
Is this humanity?
The question arises why and how this gap was created.
Is this the game of fate?
No friends, this is not the game of fate. This is the game of the system. When equal access to education does not exist, when healthcare facilities are separate for the rich and poor, when job opportunities are reserved for only a few lucky ones, then this inequality is bound to happen. It is like making some people sit on horses for the same race while tying chains around the feet of others and then saying that everyone got equal opportunity.
Is this not a mockery of their lives?
But in the middle of all this, my question is slightly different. What is the biggest loss of this inequality?
Is it only that the rich are becoming richer and the poor are becoming even poorer?
Surely this is also an issue, but the bigger problem we are talking about is not only this.
I believe the biggest loss is that the nation is losing its best minds. How many heroes from poor families are unable to study. Their abilities get lost. How many future doctors, engineers and scientists are forced into labor and now this has become their fate.
Have we ever thought that when we take a poor child out of school, we are not only destroying the future of one child but damaging the future of an entire nation.
بڑھتی ہوئی خلیج
حقیقت تو یہ ہے کہ ہم ایک ایسے معاشرے میں رہ رہے ہیں جہاں ایک شخص کی ایک دن کی آمدنی دوسرے شخص کی پوری زندگی کی آمدنی سے زیادہ ہو سکتی ہے۔
کیا یہ انصاف ہے؟
کیا یہ انسانیت ہے؟
سوال یہ پیدا ہوتا ہے کہ یہ خلیج کیوں اور کیسے پیدا ہوئی۔
کیا یہ قسمت کا کھیل ہے؟
نہیں دوستو یہ قسمت کا کھیل نہیں۔ یہ نظام کا کھیل ہے۔ جب تعلیم تک سب کی رسائی یکساں نہ ہو، جب صحت کی سہولیات امیر اور غریب کے لیے الگ الگ ہوں، جب روزگار کے مواقع صرف چند خوش نصیبوں کے لیے مخصوص ہوں، تو پھر یہ عدم مساوات تو پیدا ہوگی ہی۔ یہ ایسے ہی ہے جیسے ایک ہی دوڑ میں کچھ لوگوں کو گھوڑوں پر بٹھا دیا جائے اور کچھ کے پاؤں میں زنجیریں ڈال کر توڑنے کو کہا جائے اور پھر کہا جائے کہ موقع سب کو برابر ملا۔
کیا یہ ان کی زندگیوں کے ساتھ مذاق نہیں؟
مگر اس تمام صورتحال کے بیچ میرا سوال کچھ اور ہے۔ اس عدم مساوات کا سب سے بڑا نقصان کیا ہے؟
کیا صرف یہ کہ امیر امیر تر اور غریب غریب تر ہو رہا ہے؟
یقیناً یہ بھی ایک مسئلہ ہے لیکن اصل جرآثیم اس سے بڑے ہیں۔
میری نظر میں سب سے بڑا نقصان یہ ہے کہ قوم اپنے بہترین دماغوں سے محروم ہو رہی ہے۔ کتنے ہی غریب گھرانوں کے ہیرو پڑھ نہیں پاتے۔ ان کی صلاحیتیں کھو کر رہ جاتی ہیں۔ کتنے ہی مستقبل کے ڈاکٹر، انجینیئر، سائنسدان مزدوری کرنے پر مجبور ہیں اور یہی ان کا مقدر ہے۔
کیا ہم نے کبھی سوچا کہ جب ہم ایک غریب بچے کو اسکول سے نکالتے ہیں تو ہم صرف ایک بچے کا مستقبل نہیں مار رہے ہوتے بلکہ پوری قوم کے مستقبل کو نقصان پہنچا رہے ہوتے ہیں۔
What Is the Solution?
But does this have any solution?
Absolutely yes.
The first step is that we acknowledge this problem because treatment begins only when we accept the disease. Then diagnosis, then medication and finally the journey toward recovery.
The second is that we build a system where every child gets equal opportunities.
The third is that we raise our voice against this in our personal lives as well.
Why do we not demand that every school have the same standard?
Why do we not demand that every hospital provide quality treatment and medicine?
Why do we not demand that job opportunities be given on the basis of ability and not connections?
Let us pledge today that we will try to bridge this gap. We will hope for a better future not only for our own children but for every child. Because when a society becomes an obstacle in the progress of its poorest individual, in reality it is placing a mountain in its own path of progress.
And slowly when the circle tightens and resources begin to shrink, then finally the day comes when it is forced to tear apart its own existence. And that is the most terrifying death.
اس کا حل کیا ہے؟
مگر کیا اس کا حل ہے؟
ضرور ہے۔
پہلا قدم یہ کہ ہم اس مسئلے کو تسلیم کریں۔ کیونکہ علاج تب شروع ہوتا ہے جب بیماری کو مانا جائے۔ پھر تشخیص، پھر دوا اور پھر صحت کی طرف سفر۔
دوسرا یہ کہ ہم ایسا نظام بنائیں جہاں ہر بچے کو یکساں مواقع مل سکیں۔
تیسرا یہ کہ ہم اپنی ذاتی زندگی میں بھی اس کے خلاف آواز اٹھائیں۔
ہم کیوں نہیں مانگتے کہ ہر اسکول کا معیار ایک ہو؟
ہم کیوں نہیں مانگتے کہ ہر ہسپتال میں اعلیٰ علاج اور ادویات موجود ہوں؟
ہم کیوں نہیں مانگتے کہ روزگار کے مواقع قابلیت کی بنیاد پر دیے جائیں نہ کہ تعلقات کی بنیاد پر؟
آئیے آج عہد کریں کہ ہم اس خلیج کو پاٹنے کی کوشش کریں گے۔ ہم صرف اپنے بچوں کے لیے نہیں بلکہ ہر بچے کے لیے بہتر مستقبل کی امید رکھیں گے۔ کیونکہ جب کوئی معاشرہ اپنے غریب ترین فرد کی ترقی میں رکاوٹ بنتا ہے تو وہ دراصل اپنی ترقی کے راستے میں پہاڑ کھڑا کرتا ہے۔
اور جب آہستہ آہستہ گھیرا تنگ ہوتا ہے اور وسائل کم پڑنے لگتے ہیں تو وہ دن آتا ہے جب وہ اپنے ہی وجود کو نوچ نوچ کر کھانے پر مجبور ہو جاتا ہے اور یہ سب سے بھیانک موت ہوتی ہے۔
I guess our mind is already corrupted and we started to isolate people based on financial condition and that's the real issue. Nothing will change unless we change our mindset. Additionally, we need to focus on those point that you mentioned here.
