Human behavior is shaped by both learned and inherited factors, a combinations of genetics and environmental influence that define who a person is. Inherited factors (genetics) play a significant role such as personal traits, choices, experiences while the environment influences behavior through learning and adaptation.
Speaking from facts, kids grow up to become good adults mostly by learning and as they grew up, they learn from the actions of their parents/guardians and immediate environment reasons why parents are advised to behave and speak well in front of their children because at the prime stage of their lives, they tend to learn faster and start imitating what they can do at their level. Although genes too have an influence, but not as much as they learn it. Most genes affect kids temperament, like how they react and respond to things ( anger, calmness etc). it is only a starting point but it never determines how the child will end up whether good or bad.
Growing up, I have witnessed a lot of scenery where children who are properly brought up end up being a nuisance and a treat to the society just as in the case of Paul. Paul who was from a good home, both parents are dedicated to God and humanity to the core that almost everyone sings their praises in the community. They were hospitable and to the best of my knowledge they were good parents to all their children. I remember we would go to church together, whenever we want to see the movies we weren't permitted to watch just anyhow films. But after sometime Paul's attitude began to change and if not for the love and respect people have for his both parents, they would have treated him like they do to criminals. After some time, we relocated from that community but the last I heard of him, he was arrested by the police force. Paul amongst all his three siblings was the only one who drifted from the good upbringing his parents had set for them.
There is something I will always say; which is a child that will deviate would deviate no matter how much love and care showered to him or her it's only but a matter of choice. I have encountered ladies whose parents are nothing to write home about but their lives and the choices they set for themselves is one to emulate which is one thing I admire a lot. Building standards, principles and adhering to them is one of the right ways to live a good life. Our parents will not always monitor us forever like they do when we are infants to ensure we have a good foundation but we have the power to decide how we want our lives to go as we advance in life.
