According to a proverb; "A child who will be sharp as an adult will be so during his/her childhood". Here is a story of Shola who is a very young girl of about 8 years old who displayed a high level of intelligence everywhere she is, whether at home or in other places. Shola had a younger brother named Sam who is about 5 years of age and always fond of eating out of Shola's food, hereby shorten her ration of her meals.
Shola been a calm and loving sister always tried to accommodate her brother in love but Sam has turned this into an attitude which is getting out of hand. Shola reported this to her mother but she overlooked it all in the name of Sam is a young boy and because he is her younger brother, she should accommodate him hoping that Sam will change. Day after day, this situation is getting worse and Shola thought about it and devise a plan to put a end to it.
One day, she and her brother were given their food afternoon meal this bright Saturday afternoon, instead of Shola to eat everything, she divided it into two portions and she ate the major part of it. The remaining small part she packaged very well after adding a small bitter leaf juice into it. She gave it to Sam and he quickly jumped at it. On taking the first bite, Sam's face begins to change and on taking the second bite, he begins to cry and left the food.
Since that day, Sam dropped that habit of disturbing her sister for food hereby shortening her ration. On another occasion, some of her classmates tried to intimidate her because she is a frontliner in class and highly intelligent which made her the teacher's choice but she is of a short stature. One faithful day, she engaged in a fight with one of her classmates who is taller than her and has more support than her because of the jealous against her.
Shola quickly thought of what to do so that she won't be disgraced, she then pretended to have fainted during the fight. Their class teacher who stepped out earlier for a meeting for quickly called upon who ob hearing the news rushed down to the class. On getting to Shola, she shouted her name and all Shola was saying faintly is: "milk", "milk", "milk". They quickly brought her the milk and then she now rose up with some water sprinkled on her.
The other student who was so surprised because she didn't touch her as Shola portrayed it to be was disciplined for this and from that time henceforth, the jealousy with Shola ended as all tried not to offend her because they don't know her next tactics. To me, this is highly intelligent of Shola to think of a way out of her brother's selfishness and jealous expressed fron classmates. Thank you for reading and happy new week. Comments are welcomed.
