Special thanks to the management and the other authors for their quality input which is inspiring and life challenging even in such a time as this. It's been a pleasure enjoying other entries here.

For this third edition comes with another interesting and intriguing theme which focuses on surrogacy rights. Before I proceed I would like to share what's surrogacy. This is not a new word in the present world. Initially when I saw the word, I kept wondering what does this means? Not until I laid hands on materials and interacted with other minds before I could find myself in the right meaning.

From the ancient times this word wasn't common as I earlier mentioned but with the gradual upgrade in technology and other advancement has led to the present practice of surrogacy. The issue of birth or giving birth wasn't the concern of our forefathers but they believe everything is divinely orchestrated. Surrogacy is a plan where a woman accepts and agrees to give birth to a baby for another individual or person or a group. The woman that gives birth is called surrogate mother while the entire process is what is tagged surrogacy. This kind of arrangement is the present practice that resolves around virtually all human sector today. There are certain women today that are professional and infact have even made this as a job. They have dedicated themselves into surrogacy. It's like a trending thing. There are other couples that don't want their partner to undergo the challenges of child birth hence they resort to surrogacy.

In a situation where the intending or the couple could conceived or carry a pregnancy probably due to certain factors like infertility, medical conditions etc hence they go for surrogacy.

the big question is should a mother of a baby go back and claim the baby?

Hmmmm this is a complex and complicated matter however it can be addressed based on certain factors. Before I proceed I would like to say was there any legal documents endorsed before surrogacy? Were there any witnesses to attest to this? The woman has no claim of the baby because there was an agreement and written document which is binding on her. This is a contract hence a business. There is no room for a turn back. There is a Nigerian adage that goes agreement na agreement therefore bridging the deal will be uncalled-for. The surrogate mother shouldn't in any way attempt to go and make any claim of the baby. Once a deal is sealed it's done.

After the surrogate mother gives birth her job is to hand over the baby to the intending parents or the people she signed the contract with. She doesn't have any right over the baby again or to lay claim as the biological mother hence to keep piloting affairs of the baby. Any surrogate mother that would like to lay any claim of baby instead she should just be on her own. Surrogacy is bounded by strong legal ground and steps which can't be broken easily. Thanks so much for reading through my entry.
