I'm happy to share my entry for the second edition of this good engagement ongoing in this community. As I always say it's been one level of improvement to another. Special thanks to all the management staff and all participants.
The subject for discussion focuses on art as whether it is bad or good. The role of art in the present dispensation can't be overemphasized. It has really done more good than anything that could be termed bad. The work of art depicts so many things. I could remember vividly my days in the higher institution where I had the privilege to have some friends from the fine art department. These guys were just wonderful 👍 and were very competent in whatever they did. One of them ever said that art is the expression of things which could be the mind etc. There are things that can't be said verbally but with the aid of an art it sends deep meaning to an individual. In our school in those days, we had the privilege to have a secluded place where most art works were kept. Some of these important monuments were as a result of a student project or a decision reached by the department in order to beautify the environment. Since that department has been in existence, it has really captured and brought many people together.
The art environment serves as a museum and tourist arena where ancient things can be seen and nature is appreciated. There is lots of information that such art works communicate to an individual if attention is properly given to. Even the deaf could easily pick signals from a particular portrait of any kind. I remember one of the sculptures that remained indelible. You would see someone sitting on a table reading books. What does that connote? It speaks volumes by itself. It does not matter the kind of portrait made but what matters most is the kind of information it communicates. Art is very important and does significantly better in the present time.
I had the privilege to attend so many retreats and conferences in the city. There was one that all of us were taken for sight seeing and the location we visited was a museum and cultural center. There were archives of things that we saw and some of them explained themselves without anybody saying anything.
Art is good and it plays a vital role when it comes to teaching one how to remember things. Any kind of image or sculpture or portrait you see there is an inspiration or a message it conveys. It depends on the perspective that one sees it however there are some of these images that depict bad things while others enable one to serve God better. Any image that does not communicate good morals shouldn't be accepted. There are some that instead of installing good virtue in the life of an individual, it ends up sending bad things.
No matter how cheap an art is the message it bears is high. Therefore art works should be appreciated and value because there people that have those images as their God. Thanks for reading through.
There is always an inspiration behind every art we create and see. They portray beautiful meanings and messages that we can only appreciate creativity and not criticize the work.
