it's a beautiful week to share our stories I know it's going to be a week to make us smile.

At the early age of 17, I completed my secondary education and immediately my father registered me in a computer training institute to acquire more knowledge. I attended the lectures for 2weeks when my mother`s younger sister asked me to come and replace her in her workplace as an office assistant. I had all the qualities they needed and even more because I was fresh from secondary school and my brain was smart and fast😀
Don't try the hot🔥 brains 🤣. Attending a federal Government college was one of the best things my parents did for me and am so grateful to them.
I didn't do a proper interview, it was more like an introduction.
My salary was N5,000 (FIVE THOUSAND NAIRA) I was saving more because I take a long work to the office, pack my mother's food in the morning, and my father gives me some pocket money to keep as a girl child and other things from my aunties and my brothers.
I was so smart to be my bank and accountant, After receiving my salary in cash I take out only N1,500(ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED NAIRA), I pay my tithe of N500(Five hundred naira) and N1,000(ONE THOUSAND NAIRA) for my personal use, the remaining money goes to my wooden saving Box. I had a goal to use the money when I entered university. let's do the arithmetic together I worked for 3year before I gained admission into the university, in 3years we have 36months multiplied by N3,500 which I saved every month, and we have a total of N126,000(ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND NAIRA) in 3years.
THE VERY FIRST THING I PAID FOR WITH MY OWN MONEY
Two decades ago it was difficult to pass the entrance examination JAMB(Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) Before you can enter the university and it's written only once a year. If you fail the exam this year you wait till next year to take the examination again.
In my case, I failed the examination twice, this made my father very angry so he said he wasn't going to pay for the third time, I should sort it out with my mother.God bless you mummy I didn't want to disturb my mother to bring the money for the jamb form, so I told her about my savings. I paid for my jamb form with my money, my savings I took the examination for the third time, yes I did, I read my books more, I prayed harder and hoped for the best result.
Yes, I passed the jamb examination and gain admission into the university.
Conclusion
My hard work paid off, my savings helped me and all thanks to my aunty for allowing me to work and my parents for allowing me to be a big good girl.
Thank you for reading.
The first picture is mine.
This is in response to the #Hivelearners community contest week 48 edition 1. Topic title THE VERY FIRST

You really tried o, saving that much at such a young age, you already master the act of prudence at a young age, a good characteristic.
I had aunties who where saving too so I learnt from them and the fact that I had a target to use it at the University, it made me save more. Thanks for stopping by
They tried bring good example to you, that is why we should be mindful of our act because children copy well. You are welcome, do have a nice day.
Exactly, the kids are watching oh. Thanks dear
Awwn!
It's a good thing you were working and had some savings still.
That was a nice thing you did for you.
Well-done!
Yes it was, am always happy to share my story.
Wow, that's a long time ooo. I should start calling you big sis from today.
Do you believe that paying for the exam yourself made you more serious with it and that's why you passed?
Lol 😆 you are very funny, any good name is fine. Yes I agree with you, paying for my jamb form made me study hard. Thanks for your support dear.

You gathered money for three years? How did you do that..?😄😄 I've tried saving up something but I have broken my savings box for the third time in 1 month. I gave up..😄😄
That was brave and tactical of you dear @floraada
Oh dear, that was over 20 years ago when my parents where still taking care of me and I dont pay transportation to work I dont really have much to do with money then. I just keep it in the save box.
Now its better in the bank if its in my home I would break the box too with my family needs all around 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for stopping by
20 years ago😳
You're about 37years old now
Lol 😆 exactly
Wow... This is so cool. Nawa ooooo. That was really when Nigerian money had value oooooo.
Now that people earn 30k from a job but they still can't get any tangible savings out of it. It's insane. Hehe
You did so well at that very young age. Your first set of earning were spent wisely. Well Done
Yes oh, I learnt how to save from my mummy's sister and i was challenged by my daddy to try it on my own to see what I can do and I passed my jamb. Am glad I did well and I used my first earnings wisely. Thanks dear
That's so cool. Your experience also shows that having parents who are very supportive makes it easier for us to adopt nice ethics at younger age.
Sure dear it does. Thank you
Wow. That's a lot of money that you saved and it came in handy for you when you needed it. You really were your own accountant.
Yes oh, I didn't have a bank account then that's why I did the savings myself but shortly after I did. Thank you for stopping by
You're welcome.

Omo you made you first hundred and more when you where 17 years. I will say you are a strong lady and the fact you didn’t spend the money on something else but you save it shows how great you are.
Yes,I love your saving habit, keep it up.
Lol 😆🤣🤣 you making me laugh oh, just like @nkemakonam89 said I don dey find money since morning 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 when I was still eating daddy thank mummy thank you. I didn't really have a need for the money then. All the same it helped me alot
Wow! Who could have thought of saving such an amount of money in three years. And you weren't tempted to touch it? Interesting! I believe it only helped you save that much because you were receiving money and eating food while working. But that was a great thing because despite that, some girls wouldn't think of taking such decision that eventually came to help you out to obtain a JAMB form.
Nice reading from you ma.
You are very correct, I was still eating from my mummy's kitchen and my daddy was still giving me pocket money just like I was still in the boarding house. So I could save. Not only did I use it to pay for my jamb form I also paid my first school fees in the university because on the day I went to the school (University) with my daddy he didn't have enough money to pay and you know internet transfer and POS was not available at that time but I had cash with me so I paid and my Dad refunded me the money when he got back because I opened a bank account too💪🤣🔥.
Story of my life.
That was interesting. It was the best thing you did for yourself. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks dear
Great you did that. When I was to write my entrance exams for JHS, I didn't have money to buy the form. a brother did for. It is always great when you can stand in for yourself for things that can be a turning point in your life.
Thanks for sharing. Greetings
It feels good when you can pay your bills yourself. Its truly a turning point in your life. Thanks stopping by
Hmmm such a good girl you are because some girls won't keep anything they believe their parents will sort it out no matter what and that money they make will be use for so many useless things like food hair cloths
Awww, i was a good girl and still a good woman now. I wish the best for myself and I understand what our parents go through but so a little helping hand can bring a smile to their faces.
Yes o because it wasn't easy for them to take care of us so it is not too much if we can help them in our little way
Yeah dear, that's true we can only get better.
