Artificial Intelligence; A Friend, Not A Foe.

in Hive Learnerslast month

The earlier we realise that Artificial intelligence isn't here to replace humans or end our existence, the better for us all and before I go on with this post, I want us to know that Artificial intelligence is not an alien invention and it was built by humans to support and make a lot of things easier for us. To be realistic, we can't expect things to be the same as they were in the previous decades; the world is moving and a lot of changes are happening.

Growth is inevitable and as the human population increases daily, the adoption of Artificial intelligence can't be looked down on. Let's take food production for example, what do we think things would look like without those industrial robots in factories where food is processed and packaged? It would be tedious for just humans to meet up with demands and even if we can, it would require more than the required labour which means more cost for labour.

I was once ignorant about how much artificial intelligence could benefit the human race and always thought that the rapid development of Artificial intelligence would be the end of the world but I was wrong because after some years, all I have seen is massive growth and development. The use of AI intelligence didn't begin in the 21st century but it's not as rampant as we have it today so if it should have ended the human race, we shouldn't be here by now.

It's okay to be worried about being replaced by AI at our various work and instead of panicking, I think we should utilize the power of Artificial intelligence to improve ourselves the best way we can.

Some years ago, I was at a seminar and one of the speakers shared the story of some cameramen who weren't happy with the wide use of drones. They knew it was a threat to their job and instead of making the necessary moves to see what good could come from adopting the use of drones, they cursed and hoped that the use of drones would end. While they were busy hating, a few of them went to learn how to use these drones and it really helped them to get more jobs because it got to a time when clients believed that cameramen who use drones are more professional and people who don't know how started losing jobs.

The same thing that happened to the cameramen is what's happening today and just like those who refuse to embrace drone technology started becoming irrelevant in that field, a lot of people will end up the same way. As powerful as those machines can be, they still need to take commands, they need operators and that's where we come in but what happens when we haven't acquired the necessary knowledge and only nag about those sophisticated inventions?

I am a fish farmer and do not feel threatened by the existence of Artificial intelligence because I know a few ways how it can help even though I haven't used one on the farm before. With the use of Artificial intelligence in my farm, I can detect disease and infection earlier which is a major problem for many farmers today. Every year, farmers lose a lot of money to infection and disease but with AI, they can detect earlier and take preventions.

With AI, I can have automated activities such as changing pond water, feeding the fish and a lot more which would make my job more easier. You might be wondering what my job would be, I will be there to supervise and do one of the tedious work which is marketing because I can't put an AI into a task that would need human interaction such as negotiating with customers.

Adopting the use of AI will not just make my work easier, it will boost my productivity and also help me make more money. As I mentioned earlier, I don't feel threatened and will embrace AI wholeheartedly when the time comes. AI can't replace me because a human is needed in the process so there is nothing to be scared about.

Looking at it from your perspective, there's a lot of truths to it. we need not be afraid of Ai taking over the world.

Humans will always be scared because we don't want anything that can do things better than we can but that's not possible so we have to embrace AI technology

Certainly

They were created to help amd support humans but they are slowly kicking humans out and taking their place.

Not wanting to understand how they can help us is why we think they are kicking us out. Those who equip themselves with the knowledge of how it works will always remain in work.

There are some job AI can't replace, but they can always serve as assistance to the business.
Imagine AI going into the pond to sort fish for you, I don't think that would be possible but it could be programmed to pump water and feed them.
Despite the usefulness of AI it can't function without human operating it.

You are right, AI can only support and not fully take over the job. They need instructions and it's human who will give those instructions.

AI actually make life so much easier, the only thing we need to do as humans is to find ways and means to make use of it without its being a threat to us .

Like you've rightly said, Only those who are not ready to grow, will be affected by the AI revolution

Ai and robots are creating easiness for us. I appreciate their presence to improve the standard of life. I don't think cameraman should be worried to see drones. Drones are making some realistic videos for us. I love to see people who adopted in other ways and learned about Ai tools helping in drone programing. Indeed they deserved better posts.

Actually agree though but AI can't function without humans instructing them on what to do. It can never replace human in any form but serves as a great support in everything humans do.
