It's sad a lot of people no longer value moral values in the world today and the repercussion of trashing it is quite evident in the society today. We talk about corruption here and there plus numerous immoral activities happening out there yet we fail the retrace our steps back to where we all got it wrong. I always said that the world has never been a better place but things weren't this worse when the world still regarded morals as something very important.
Sometimes I wonder if it is civilization or the advancement of technology that led us to the point where only a few people still have moral values, and whatever it is, we have made a very huge mistake. I have gotten into this same discussion a few times, and people are fond of using the need to survive as an excuse, and it pisses me off because this isn't about hardship or the terrible economic state many countries have found themselves in; it is more about some individuals greed, laziness, and foolishness.
I met a lady sometime ago who was selling snacks somewhere on the mainland. Just from the arrangement of her business, behavior, and relationship with customers, you can tell that she's not just a roadside snack seller.
To prove myself right or wrong about what I thought, I started a conversation, and it turned out that she's a graduate. With her beauty and everything, I would never have expected her to settle for such business, but she did because she didn't want to go into prostitution like some of her friends would do since every office she walks into needs more than just her official service. I was impressed and wished it was the same case out there, but that's not it.
I have the feeling that when I see lots of young ladies on hives, it makes me happy because they could have been engaging in immoral activities just to boost their income offline but they choose to work hard.
The same thing applies to my gender; immorality has taken over many minds, and it's quite disheartening. Many times when spending time with my siblings, I advise and pray for them not to ever lose their morals in life because it usually doesn't end well.
In 2017, a coursemate who was partially a friend told me that my brain could fetch me a lot of me if I truly put it to use. I felt like I wasn't using my brain before and was interested in whatever he was bringing to the table. It was a tough time for me because I didn't have a fixed job, and things were hard for me financially.
I wanted to make money anyhow, so I went to visit my friend somewhere in Sango Ota. Upon arriving there, I was entertained to the extent that I forgot my problems for a while. His apartment was looking really good, whereas I didn't even have a TV in my single-room apartment. After chatting about life, we went straight into the purpose of the visit, and I was shocked when he mentioned internet fraud.
My heart began to race, and I was restless all through the conversation. I showed interest, and he was ready to teach me the needful, which I agreed to. Later that evening, I left his place, and he gave me money, which he doesn't do on a normal day, even when I asked.
Immediately after I got on the bus, I deleted his number and blocked him on all my social apps because I didn't want to have anything to do with him anymore. I don't know how people do it comfortably, but cheating a fellow human, whether young or old, is something I will never do, even when there is so much assurance that I will get away with it easily. My conscience is always active, and even when cheating will favor me a lot, doing it is just impossible.
Doing things that will hurt other humans to make myself happy is a no-go area for me because I do not derive joy from hurting others or seeing them in pain. Rather than cheating, I will embrace the hard route to making my situation better.
My friend didn't make any effort to reach me as well, and I believe that he got the message clearly. Today, it hurts to see many people involved in fraud, and it bothers me if they don't know that somehow they have ruined someone's life somewhere.
Let's put religion and people's belief in Karma aside. There are things we shouldn't do, even if we aren't told not to, and cheating people for our own good is one of them. I question myself: What would it feel like if I were in the victim's shoes? I think this is the same question everyone should always ask themselves whenever they want to make silly decisions involving people.

Deceit is now the order of the day for people in the world today, people find it very convenient to hurt others. It's funny how people now see fraud as a business
It's a trend now all in the name of making quick money and it's really getting out of hand judging by the things we see online everyday.
The world is really becoming another thing entirely, this is sad 😭😭
Things have really deteriorated; immorality is now seen as a thing. People no longer uphold moral standards. It's funny how people now see fraud as hustling. I remember going through a comment section of a video I saw on Facebook on counterfeit drinks and products that are being produced in Nigeria, and someone commented that the economy is hard, so this set of people are hustling for their daily bread. Can you imagine that at the expense of other people's health?
It annoys me when people blame the economy for their immoral act because in this same economy, there are people who still hold on to their moral values.
I believe they are just giving unnecessary excuses and I don't see things getting better because of how much they have influenced the younger generations.
I believe so too. It's a sad reality
It is hard to tell whether the reason behind the deterioration of human values and ethical conduct is as a result of civilisation or lack of knowledge/wisdom. The primary instigator of immorality is money which has led a lot of people into engaging in all sort of inhumane activities. It takes courage to do the right thing in this present generation because it might make you feel ridiculous about your growth when you see others live luxurious life as a result of doing the wrong things.
We blame money and poverty so much that we forget that there are poor people who still have their morals intact. It's complicated though and we can only speak for ourselves.
If everyone could ask himself this question prior to hurting others, the world would be better. Most of the people that see nothing wrong in defrauding others blocked their minds against this kind of rational thoughts and questions.
I believe putting ourselves in others shoes is capable of changing a lot of things in the world but that's the last thing humans will do. We don't care about who is affected, we just want to do whatever favors us.
