Is a University Degree Worth the Stress in Nigeria?

in Hive Learnerslast month (edited)

Education in Nigeria is an exquisite delineation in the country of Nigeria. It is a scarce commodity; however, getting one's dream course can be overwhelming when weighed by individuals. The high cost of living these days calls for a lot of frugality. Everyone in the nation is becoming conscious of what to buy and what not to buy. That act of prudency cannot be traded for education. Before one gets admitted into university, one has to consider the choice of school and one’s O level as well as JAMB score. Students take their time to burn the night candle. There are times when lecturers fix impromptu classes. But is it worth it?

Source Can you say that a single certificate underscores the stress that one might have gone through in the course of his/her stay in school? Many would portray a higher level of adroitness in the outer society. Some go to a private university, but is the cost of a private university equivalent to the monthly or yearly salary consumed as school fees if one finally gets employed? A brilliant young man I knew said to me, "University is not a scam if you add skillfulness to it." Think of it... Someone who is educated and skillful would portray an adroit handling of tasks if there are crises in his or her company.

Getting a degree doesn't give you that autonomy or that power; it only enlightens you. You achieve that power through practice. A famous leader I know said, "If you want to free someone from bondage, give that person education; but if you want to keep that person in bondage, take education and give that person religion." When he said it, I swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Having a degree is something to be proud of, but it doesn't make you indomitable.

It is undeniable that there are a couple of organizations, such as academic organizations or institutions, that consider education as a number one prerogative when talking about degrees. The bitter truth is that many of these academic organizations, such as universities, have made it mandatory to have a minimum of a master's degree or a PhD when it comes to lecturing jobs.

In my day-to-day activities, I can tell you that my degree is not making money for me; rather, I am the one that has been sponsoring myself to further myself for more degrees. I want to go for a more professional course that would earn me much more. Having a degree is not a do-or-die thing; it is not compulsory, but consider it necessary.

Education is not a scam if you know how to use it well. I would not be on this platform if I am not educated. Against all odds, even when you have the practical skill, or even when life seems different, get a degree.

Thanks.

Given the structure of the society, the society tends to favor the educated ones more and sadly that's the reality of the world which only makes getting an education very necessary.
