As humans, it has always been a thing for those outspoken ones to always want to say a piece of their mind and even humans generally. It's hard for us to hear of something that doesn't go well with us and keep quiet; we always want to just say our own part of it and make sure we win the conversation, if possible. As we know, humans always have the tendency of having a principle they tend to live by, and they most times feel very offended when those principles are disregarded by someone.
It was only recently that I got to know that social media bullying is what is regarded as CANCEL CULTURE. This combination of words sounded quite strange to me at first, and I had to make my research to be sure of what it means. Cancel culture is something we are experiencing a lot lately, and if there is one reason why that is common, I'd say it's because humans are becoming more selfish as they only care about what they feel or think is right.
Moving into the world of social media, where we find a space where it is so easy to do things anyhow we want to, so many people have used it as a yardstick to do anything. Nowadays, it's so easy for someone to share their opinions on something not caring whether or not it's obtainable or if it's something that would be helpful or harmful, and there are some that are always ready to condemn people for either doing what is right or wrong.
As much as the social space is an open space, it's sad that most people have seen it as an opportunity to just be so unthoughtful. Today, it is believed that the social media is not a safe place for anyone, but then that hasn't stopped everyone from using or engaging in it. From my little research, I got to find out that cancel culture is basically when someone or group of people are publicly criticized on social media for something they either said or did.
Based on this, we can see that one can easily say something on social media and be misinterpreted and end up facing this public backlash. Whether you are right or wrong, most times that wouldn't matter anymore because there might be just one person who is making sure that you get a tarnished reputation. Yes, some people or groups might go off the border and say or do some things that are not just nice, and they definitely deserve some scolding, but then most times our approach to it might cause them to take some drastic actions that even those that backlashed them might end up feeling guilty of.
We all have different opinions about different things, but that doesn't mean that it will change what is right or wrong. We have to know that in as much as we think what we do or know is the best, we should be ready to know that some people might not agree with us, so we should either be ready to accept their bullies or try as much as possible to be more open to learn.
Cancel culture, from my point of view, is something that should be discouraged because we don't know what anyone is going through, and if one is a victim of this, we can imagine how hard it is for the person or group, and trust me, it is not something that we would want to experience ourselves, so why let others have such ugly experiences? Social media, as we all know, is not a safe place, so it is very possible that someone can be easily cloned or something, so we can never be too sure of what we see there.
We need to confirm everything and be sure before trying to be judgmental because we might bully the wrong person. Social media is one place that so many people get to be who they are not, so it is the only place some people find their place in this world, and most times they just end up abusing it. I can just go on and on, but then I'd just love to end this by saying cancel culture might be effective in some matters but not the majority, so it shouldn't be encouraged at all. Its effect on the victim can be really bad, and if we want to be truthful to ourselves, we won't want to have such experiences, so we shouldn't delight in someone having it.

My own issue with this cancel culture thing is how swiftly these bullies jump into doing what they best know how to -bully. Especially with celebrities you think they supposedly loved, that sometimes you wonder if they've always had so much bile in them that is masked or it's just that one mistake or whatever that has them spewing so much venom.
Like! They quick Change is enough for someone to just fall into a very deep depression 🤦🏾♀️.
To me cancel culture should be discouraged.

The bullying part is the most annoying, I see no reason why people come online to drag themselves over simple matters of which can be settled offline and most of this people call it content creation so sad.

Cancel culture is a complicated thing and I believe that in social media there is no right and there is no wrong. Criticizing others is not a good thing and I don't appreciate it either either but what is there any limit to cross? We all set a limit which is just our own set limit but nobody is bound to follow it. I use social media only for entertainment and that helps me to not to take seriously what's happening on social media.
