The groom comes in dressed in a traditional attire aso oke in an agbada with hat(fila) you can tell what tribe it is from the aso oke.
The traditional attire aso oke speaks a lot as it represents the Yoruba culture, it speaks a lot of elegance when worn, the bride wears the iro and Buba (a top and wrapper) that matches the same color with the groom.
The wedding starts with a formal welcome address by two narrators alaga ijoko(sitting Mc) and alaga iduro( standing Mc) from both parties. Then the groom comes in first to greet the bride's family
A mutual arrangement is required from both families and so a proposal letter is read by the youngest of the bride's family then replied with an acceptance letter from the bride's family to seal the union.
A mutual agreement is done now there's is need to meet the bride's parents.
The groom is escorted by his friends to meet the bride's parents where they all prostrate two times and he prostate alone the third time to his in-laws then both families prays for him.

He then turns to his parent to prostrate once.
This is done as a sign of respect from the groom to the bride's parents.
Then the bride comes in escorted by her friends kneels before her parents and grooms parents for prayers then proceeds to wear the groom a cap.
Wearing the groom cap is an act done to demonstrate her acceptance of the groom's proposal.
Then the bride is instructed by the mc to pick up a gift from the varieties of gifts brought by her inlaws
she picks the engagement ring and a holy book either Quran or Bible then gives it to the husband which the husband in turn inputs the ring on her finger and she displays happily.
Then both are joined together as husband and wife.
it a customary pattern, it how it been done from generations to generations, showing the richness of the culture
The traditional wedding is a beautiful wedding showing the dignity of the culture.
The marriage is beyond the Union of the two individuals(husband and wife)but also the Union of families
that why all procedures are put in place
The traditional marriage in Nigeria is a beautiful thing that shows the diversity of the Nigerian culture.

I've always known and read about the loyalty of the Yorubas, the act of prostrating shows Allot of respect from young ones to the old it's a good one
But about the MC, why do they have a standing and sitting MC? ... I don't really understand that part or it's reason please throw more light on that.... Thanks
One represent the bride and the other the groom
Oh okay
Omo that couple's picture you used is quite beautiful, man you've got eyes. Those MCs - Alaga Iduro is really talented but kinda cunning in accumulating money. They can suck Dangote dry!!!🤣 @ijohnsen
Guy!!! They know how to remove money from your pockets..
