Chicken Potato Cutlets/ Chicken Alu Tikki ( A small cutlet that packs a punch of flavor and nostalgia)

in Hive Learnerslast month

Hello, Hive family! How are you all doing? I hope your Sunday is going well. Ramadan, the blessed month, is coming to an end. I'm sure you all must be busy with Eid shopping as well. Today, I am going to prepare the recipe that was my favorite during my childhood. And often I used to take it with parathas for school lunch. It was made every time we had vegetables at home. Because I didn't like eating vegetables. And I used to get upset. So, my mom used to make this dish to cheer me up. That's why I would call this dish a dish to cheer up a grumpy person. This recipe name is chicken alu tikki/ chicken potato cutlets . This recipe using chicken, green chillies, red chillies and mashed potatoes. This dish is incredibly delicious and can be enjoyed with roti, rice with tea as a snack, or served as an appetizer.
I will use less chili powder and spices in this recipe because of stomach issues nowadays.
These are the essential ingredients for this recipe:

Ingredients:

4 large size potatoes (400 gms)

Chicken 200 gms

Onion 1 Large Size( Chopped)

Green Capsicum 1 medium Sized (Chopped)

Chili Sauce 1 Teaspoon
Vinegar 1 Teaspoon

Kasuri Methi 1 Teaspoon
1 Teaspoon black pepper
Green Chili 4 large sized( Crushed)
Red Chili Powder 1/2 half teaspoon
1 Teaspoon salt
Green Coriander
1 egg

let's get started with this recipe!
Cooking Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are soft. Peel and mash them using a masher while they are still hot.
  1. Boil the chicken separately, then finely chop it using a chopper. And add vinegar and chili sauce.
  1. Cut and chopped the onion in small pieces. Chopped onions would make the tikki crunchy and enhance its flavor.

  1. Mix the mashed potatoes and chopped chicken together in a bowl, ensuring they are well combined. Add all the spices and Kasuri methi and ginger garlic paste and mix thoroughly.
  1. In another bowl, beat an egg with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

  1. Shape the mixture into round cutlets of your preferred size. Dip each cutlet first into the beaten egg mixture.( Optional: you can use the bread crumbs to bring crunchiness in the cutlets).
But I'm not using crumbs in it because they make the tikkis a bit hard.

  1. Heat a frying pan and shallow fry the patties until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  1. Serve the hot tikkis/cutlets with your favorite dipping sauce or raita on the side. Having raita with this dish enhances its flavor. Enjoy your delicious homemade chicken potato cutlets!

My mom made chicken fried rice today and I had it for dinner. The combination of both was very good. Next, I will share the recipe for chicken fried rice with all of you.
