The first quarter of 2025 is behind us. Looking back, this year has been a whirlwind of experiences; from good moments when I felt on top of the world and things went my way, to moments when life threw challenges my way. So far, I'm grateful to God for all that I have achieved from the beginning of this year till today. I remember January 1st, 2025, the first day of the year. Unlike many other students who went home to spend the holidays with their parents, I was in school, alone in my room. I thought to myself, “Who spends crossover alone in their room.” I thought the first day of the year wouldn’t go well, but thankfully, Hopestylist came through for me. We were literally on a call for hours, talking about different things, particularly our New Year’s resolutions. We concluded that the importance of making resolutions cannot be overstated, so it’s fitting to make one. To solidify our seriousness, we wrote our resolutions down in a book. I wrote mine in my diary, while she wrote hers in a notebook.
For today’s edition, the Hive learners community asks us to discuss how far we have gone with our plans. How has the year been so far? What are the changes you’ve had to make as a result of unexpected happenings? On the first day of the year, I made resolutions for Hive and my personal life. It is interesting to see that things are going my way. So, what are the aspects I have been doing well concerning my plan in this first quarter of the year?
To start with, my consistency game has been outstanding. Looking back, last year, I missed more than 100 days of posting because I was busy with school and didn’t have time for Hive, or so I thought. I concluded that it was difficult to find balance and that to succeed, a part has to suffer for the benefit of another. Since school was my number one priority, I decided to take a break from Hive and focus on school and exams. Hence, I missed a lot of days. However, Hopestylist made me realize that one can achieve balance- balance school and Hive. All you need is to be determined and make plans. I realized this late, but you know what they say: “It is better late than never.” So, I started my consistency game. Of course, there were days when I felt lazy, but when you have someone who wants the best for you, it is easy to overcome laziness. So far, I have maintained a streak of daily posts. There were days when I even made two posts a day.
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to read at least 60 books this year. Considering that I am an avid reader, I knew I would pull this off easily. The fact that I’m studying a course where you have to read so many books also adds to the beauty. We have barely reached the midpoint and I have read more than 30 books. Pretty interesting, right? I am certain that before the end of this year, I’ll cross my goal. However, as months passed, I realized I had to alter this goal and make changes. Initially, I planned to read books. When I mean, “books,” I’m referring to novels and play text. However, I soon recognized the importance of reading self-help books. One of the changes I had to make regarding this goal was to start reading self-help books. Although I don’t have any physical self-help books, there are apps and websites where I can download them.
Moving on, another resolution was to take my Hive Power game to the next level. To achieve this, in the last months, I made sure I participated in Hive Power Up Day. More importantly, I set my posts to 100% HP until I achieved my target. Last month, I powered up about 80% of my posts.
One of my personal goals this year was to let go of past conflicts. After having difficult experiences with offline friends last year, I initially decided to distance myself from them. However, I realized that holding onto grudges was harming me more than anyone else. I chose to forgive them, even though trust remains an issue. It was a tough decision, but ultimately liberating.
How has the year been for me so far? Is it all that I hoped for? Sometimes, I reflect on my progress so far, and it seems almost impossible. Compared to last year, when I missed over 100 days of posting, maintaining a daily posting habit seems almost unbelievable. Although there have been some setbacks and difficulties, I’m grateful to God for my progress so far. I’m also grateful to Hopestylist. I hope the rest of the month will continue to go well.

You are right dear. One of the major thing I learnt from your article is to forgive others no matter what they have done. I know is not easy to trust them again which is right because even myself have gone through and I can't trust such person again.
Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you agree with me, ma. Holding grudges will do you no good.
Thanks for stopping by.
Forgiveness is a goal, when you forgive you will have inner peace.
Thanks, I was able to deduce that from your article.
Thanks for stopping by.
I'm glad you learnt something.
Wait oo, u mean 60 books 📚 to read? Oh boy... where una dey see this kind of grace oo
It's interesting to see that u let go even though trust is an issue...we can forgive but forgetting and trusting such a friend again is always a problem, so I understand
It's good to have positive friends on our side who is always there to motivate us in stretching ourselves for a better outcome..all thanks to our own hopy
All the best with you in the rest of the months of this year 💚
Mama, they want to choke us in this school oo. I go survive this one.
Yes, mama, things become easier when you work with a positive person.
Having an accountability partner pays a lot and it’s good to see you have one that is helping achieve better results.
I'm glad you agree with me.
Thank you.
Thanks for the support.
In this life, consistency is key and once you’re able to work your way around it, you’re good to go.
Great work so far!
Omo. Nhaji, the importance of consistency cannot be overstated.
