It Takes Two to Tango: A Story of Brotherhood 🀝🏼

By justola1

5 years ago, if someone told me I'd be deep and intentional about friendship, I honestly wouldn't believe them; I'd deny it and say, "You're talking banter. "

I had friends growing up, but I was more of a lone wolf that had fun by himself and sorted his problems out by himself. You could describe me as someone that could enjoy his own company and could mentor himself.

The Shift

It took me long to realize it, but having good friends could save you a lot of stress, especially mentally. You can't do life alone, and trust me, you need friends (good ones) to be happier. There's this liveliness and spark that rushes in you when you have a friend in your space.

Life Without a Friend

I have been in that stage/phase where I was mostly alone. I hardly go out or reach out to people, and it was good at first. I was able to build and find happiness within myself.

But too much of everything is bad. I did it so much that it affected my social life and my growth. From experience, I can tell you that not having a friend or a close ally is a quick ticket to depression.

Brotherhood 🀝🏼

[ IMAGE IS MINE ]

I have many friends that have helped my life a lot.

See this young man by my right β–Ά. Shout out to him.

Kadiri has been like a brother to me. There was a time when I was really broke. It was even this year. I couldn't even afford internet data, and we were just talking randomly. I didn't even have to ask, and I got a message alert from my bank that I've been credited.

He legit gifted it to me to at least have Internet to keep doing my online courses and have access to more information the web has to offer. What about the time when I saw some random money from him again to eat because I didn't have to feed myself? It's not just even about the money; he gives the best advice and lets you in on opportunities and emotional support in hard times.

A secret 🀫: I make animated videos here on Hive and build games. Before posting it here, he's the first person I send my work to. He's like my auditor πŸ˜‚. I get comments on how to improve my work.

I have another friend, Isaac, that legitimately bought me a Udemy course to further my knowledge in web development. It was one of the best gifts I have ever received from a person.

Even here on Hive, @fiona777 is a continent away, and I've never even met her, but she introduced me to Hive and helps in ways I can't even mention. On WhatsApp, she legit just sends a message to catch cruise and joke.

I have many friends on Hive, but I can't tag you all πŸ˜†. LOL

My Opinion

I understand it's good to keep your life private and be wary of friends because the heart is deep; you don't know what bad thoughts the person you think is your friend actually has towards you, but let's be frank, life is all about risks.

You could decide to be cautious and live a life of solitude, but as a consequence, you'll isolate yourself and deprive yourself of the privileges, happiness, and emotional stability having a friend would get you.

Conclusion

As much as you invest in yourself, you should also invest in friendships. Sometimes, what could be holding you back, delaying your growth, and causing you to feel depressed is a lack of meaningful connections with friends.

Go out, talk to people, build relationships (intentional ones), and watch yourself become happier.

It's not that friendship is bad, just that we should not dwell much on it. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah,
You should be able to stay happy on your own too.
But friends are definitely needed
