Not being content is always the nature of man which leads to greediness. But it only takes self discipline to control oneself.
Being content is good and it helps to save one from some acts of greediness and selfless acts that might lead to lack of self control.
Not having a self-control over things and not being content is most of the things that have led to so many conflicts between man and his environment thereby causing so much problems for him and his surroundings.
People today have caused conflict to others because they were not content with their own self development but rather they were being greedy over others progress.
Self contention today will really be a good thing because when you mind your business and support other things will really work out well for everyone but when greed comes in there will be lack of self contention thereby leading to conflict between you and others. It's true that not being self contented motivates in some development, because it makes others keep providing more and more things in different developmental stages.
It is just like a country that developed a system that is very good , another country will also immediate the country to produce their own but in the process of production their own they will try to make it to be better that the other country and this will thereby make the system to be more modified and development will keep going on. To me had it been that people were content with what they have honestly there will be no much development reason because everyone will be comfortable with what they have and people will leave without even being bothered about anything. You know what brings up the technology development we know today is because competition, people compete between each other to meet to the best and this has really helped in bringing more development. For example, phone companies.It's true that these competitions have tried in bringing development but i will say that being content is the best thing because everyone would have been equal to others and there will be less greediness and lack of self control in the aspect of contention.it's good to be content and it's also good to want more in life
Imagine having a thousand naira in your account and someone else has more than that being okay with the one you have is okay you have to work to earn more because human wants is unlimited.
Assume you just finished secondary and you were given the opportunity to go to a tertiary institution will refuse to go because you are content ?
My friends, to be contented is good but it should not stop or limit you from thriving to acquire more ,know more , get the best education and improve yourself and your skills , being should not be a barrier to self improvement.

To be honest, I liked your perspective. I like that you made a distinction between being content and giving up on self-improvement. People often mix it up and get confused but I believe it's possible to appreciate what we have while still working towards something better. I also agree that staying in good terms shouldn't stop us from learning new skills. I have same kind of thought process because that is the only truth. I also think that competition is required a bit so it can drive the desire for innovations but most the time it becomes unhealthy when it turns into greed. In the end, I think the key is finding a balance between everything. All we need is balance and that is the key. We should always be grateful for what we already have and continue to improve ourselves.

Yeah.
You're right about this. Most of the advancement and improvement we see in tech today was as a result of competition. One company produces A and another company decides to produce C while making sure it is way better than A. Contentment like you said is good, but it shouldn't hinder us from improving on ourselves.
