Although I am a social media manager, there are social media apps I do not use or manage simply because I do not fancy them. Or because I do not think there are any significant uses for them. Social media apps like facebook, instagram and tiktok stand out the most when it comes to content creation. Apps like X (formerly twitter) I feel has fallen in glory and is no longer as it used to be. For those that are already used to X you will admit that it is no longer as it used to be, it has evolved in certain areas and performed poorly in other areas, but I think the only thing that still stands is the fact that it is clearly not an application just anyone can handle. You need to have a level of intellect else, that space would crush you. When it comes to business, I would not advise my newbie client to start with X because the possibility of making something profitable is not so much in comparison to other apps. Here even telegram has a better chance of pushing your small business than X. With my little experience in the social media space (for someone who usually uses social media for business) there are different forms people tend to relate socially with the help of these applications.

One of the applications I can never understand though is the one called snapchat. To be honest I feel it doesn’t add as much value to society as a social media platform should. It should rather become a meme or photo/video editing application than a social media application because I do not know why I need to do snaps and send it to my friends when other applications like tiktok, instagram and facebook would even help me promote my snaps better. In my opinion Snapchat is useless for a social media platform, the level of businesses it can help isn’t much, yes it is supposed to be a casual platform, but I believe it is still too casual for a social media application. I personally do not find any fun in adding snapchat filters to my videos, but most of all, I see it as one of the social media apps that would soon go extinct because it is one of the apps that struggle to evolve over time. There was a time when snapchat was a thing, Now it isn’t as profound as it used to be.

I believe every social media app should have a major useful anchor, even if the social media app is for memes, let it have value. Memes can evolve, because creators always find a way to be funny, but snapchat would find it difficult because as funny as they want it to be, it just looks childish. Perhaps if they decided to make it a children's social media platform, it would be more beneficial as only kids will find most of their features useful. If 70% of adults are trying to make something for themselves, and they wish to do so doing what they love, and they discover that snaps won’t pay the bills, you will find out that at the end of the day there will be less screen time on that app as everyone wants to be where things are happening.
