I have always loved reading book for so long that I can’t even remember how it started. I used to love borrowing my friends’ books or novels back then, so I could read for the week, and sometimes we would swap our books. But most particularly, I have always loved reading stories. I’ve never really enjoyed books without stories; reading non-fiction book seem more like a task to me.
Physical books has always been my go-to, I read them as long as they are available, and I read them quite often. I’ve always believed that reading books should be a time away from screens and anything digital. I never really read e-books, except from those Facebook stories days. About two years ago, I got introduced to e-books by a couple of friends, and I haven’t really gotten used to them.
I never understood people who prefers to read e-books to physical books. One of my flatmates, for example, claims she doesn’t like reading physical books because she’d probably fall sleep, but online she enjoys scrolling through while reading. And not just her, I have met couple of people who thinks the same way.
In fact, I love hardcover books so much that I decided to start a small business selling them. I feel like most people don’t have easy access to physical books, or it is neither too expensive that people are losing interest in them. So, I decided to sell thrifted books at a very affordable rate, to restore the love of physical books again.
My last read was Born in Fire by Nora Robert, a contemporary novel, which I did a whole book review on a few days ago. The book was about a fierce and independent glass maker whose work attracted a polished and authoritative gallery owner. It also contained some drama, and it was totally worth it.
My current read is Into the whirlwind by Kat Martin. The story follows a woman, Megan, whose son has been kidnapped. She chooses to hire a private investigator she trusts to bring her son back. I am huge fan of crimes, but I’m disappointed with this book, most importantly the writing style, which has even slowed my reading.
I love reading books because of the writings itself. I love how authors write in a way that brings life to their books, so they no longer feel like just books. Writing fascinates me, and it holds a lot of power. I love when the writing style is so well done that it completely pleases the reader.
I don’t know if I will continue my current read, but if not, I am going to pick a new book this month. I try my best to read non-fiction books, but I just don’t complete them and I’m challenging myself to. So, I might try to read Eat the Frog by Brain Tracy. If not, I will pick Wicked Widow by Amanda Quick.
Personally, I love the feel and texture of hard cover books. I love to flip through pages. It may sound strange, but I love the smell of books. No matter how convenient e-books, they just don’t beat it.

The choice always boils down to preference. As a reader of both ebooks and hardcopies, I can say that some instances make me choose one over the other and vice versa.

Your flatmate is not alone oo, there are many people who prefer e-books over paperbacks or physical books.
