The Price Of Bad Leadership.

Well, I do wonder how it is that those without power are the ones who get punished. When a decision is being taken and it goes south, the citizens of that country are the ones at the receiving end. Just the ordinary us, who knows nothing, who are busy hustling around find a way to survive. The citizens aren't the ones who fix meetings, sign papers or attend closed door meetings, why should we be the one to to face the music.

While growing up, these things are what we see on a daily. When our government does things, we find out that those who are abroad begin to talk about it, they ask us questions, post on the Internet and all, whereas we that are right there in the country have no day whatsoever in the matter. We don't have access to the government house or wherever there meetings hold, we don't even know what agreement they've signed again in their closed door meetings, not untill it hit the news. Still, we are the ones who carry the shame, insult and all. And I believe that the hands controlling things should take all the blame, the leaders.

It's no news that Nigeria is currently in debts, yet these government keeps on borrowing non-stop. We would have been glad if we could point at what exactly those money were used for, but it's sad that we couldn't, every sector in he country, be it health, education, agriculture and all are still facing issues. Now, the country has put a tax law out. We all know that they want to use us to pay back those loans they've enriched themselves with, while still enriching themselves more via this scheme. Why should we be at the receiving end, did we know how this money is spent? No.

Anytime two nations engage in war and clashes, it's always the citizens who get to bleed. It's so painful to watch the people pay for mistakes that were made from high places, amongst the leaders.

The truth is, the citizens aren't the one who get to decide how their leaders think or act or even talk about in their meetings. Even though it's democracy, we find out we are still being disappointed, cause it's still never about us, the people. So, why should the innocent us get to carry the blame, attack, and burdens that are not meant for us. There's the issue of insecurity in the nations which is as a result of failed leaderships and we've never heard these leaders getting abducted, kidnapped and all, it's still the citizens that face all of that.

I think it's time to separate the government from the governed. Why should the harmless get punished and insulted while the powerful ones remain untouched. Accountability should always target leaders responsible and not the citizens who are trapped under their decisions. Citizens shouldn't suffer for battles, policies, wars, clashes, debts they didn't start, owe, create, sign or spend.

At the end of the day, we are all just citizens who are trying to keep our heads afloat and survive whatever our leaders drag us into. And for all of this to change, the government must be held accountable. They must respond to the needs of their citizens and the citizens to should quit clout chasing, cruise and all, it's time to face reality and work together hand in hand with one voice.

It is so sad that citizens can barely escape the consequences of the leader's bas decisions. Whereas leaders can still shy away, hide their head and not be affected by their bad decisions.
