As a "survivor" of the infamous flag wars. I can tell you, it's not as bad as people think. Downvotes are necessary too. But, I do want to get your feedback on this topic, because its part of understanding and forming platform culture.

Quien pasó por Reddit alguna vez, sabrá que los votos negativos suelen utilizarse mayormente de forma irracional, entonces aplicando un paralelismo, qué nos garantiza de que serán bien utilizados en Hive?
Ya ví ballenas cereando las recompensas de algunas personas de forma sistemática, cualquiera sea el tema que se tratase, entonces, podemos decir que es una buena herramienta?
Más aún cuando la consecuencia es en proporción al HP. Es decir, brinda total impunidad a los mayores tenedores de HP, dejando a los pequeños peces rojos, y hasta a las orcas, indefensas, en caso de utilizarse mal.
Para mí, la solución al voto negativo sería que el sistema obligue a fundamentar la razón del voto negativo.
Al final del día, el voto positivo es una herramienta más peligrosa, porque con ella es que se extraen los recursos de Hive, votando positivamente por valores de decenas de dólares a contenido que siendo honestos, no suelen ser la gran cosa.
Siendo un poco paranoica es como una especie de lavado de dinero, cuando se hace de forma sistemática: te voto cualquier porquería por 10 o 15 dólares pero tú me das la mitad.
Otra cosa que te diré, es que hasta ahora no has votado positivo a ninguna respuesta, porque de seguro será para alguien que piense igual que tú, no alguien que tenga la mejor respuesta.

Hello, Downvotes can be a tool of intimidation or censorship because let's be honest, people will stop doing things or giving their opinions in some subjects to avoid get targeted with a whale who only wants impose her point of view.

I like the downvote philosophy you put out though I was laughing at the saying that we all need to experience a down vote and I go like no way. But like you said it looks like something that’s inevitable in the hiving experience. I also love the part where you described a good man as having power to use but deciding not to use it except when necessary. The subject of downvotes in my own little opinion is thats it’s obviously inevitable as a tool to keep the ecosystem sane against abuse but it should be used with discretion like you said. There could be a scenario where someone can decide to use it against a user whom they have a beef against or wants to proof a point. But outside this scenario, it would come in handy as a tool to sanitize the ecosystem like you said against abusers but that after they have been warned and they decide not to adhere. Talking of experience a down vote, I think it would be absurd and may call for those kind of reactions which of course you explained is not the end of the world or a death sentence if someone just got downvoted for doing nothing. I don’t know if it has happened to anyone but I don’t think I would be feeling good to wake up and see downvote on my posts when I don’t even know what I did to deserve it or haven’t been warned of any misgivings. I may not freak out and leave but if a sure not going to be a good experience if it happens without a cause. We should all be giving graces to learn and grow and in the absence of remorse and willingness to change in the face of constant abuse then there’s liberty to use the downvote power. It would only be effective if the person downvoting has enough power to do that though.
Is there a chance someone might get downvoted for stupid reasons. Of course. But, its the rare cases. Most of the time the downvotes happen because someone believes they are guarding the chain.
I can't imagine you getting downvoted. You are being polite with everyone, you are putting in some work on your blog. I mean, you are doing things in a way that anyone can quickly assert is beneficial to the ecosystem.
But it could happen, that one day, you say something about a religion or maybe something political. That day, someone gets angry and decides to downvote you. Well, that's fine, you are going to be fine. Its impossible to be liked by everyone, this is a lesson we all have to learn.
When you accumulate enough hive power to give someone nice upvotes and ugly downvotes, keep that in mind. Use that power to do what is best for people. Most of the time it will be encouraging others, but in a very rare scenario, it will be you, using your hive power, to stop a bad actor.

I have had everything on Hive downvoted to zero for 2 years now.
Everything gets zeroed out on Day 7. Absolutely no reason ever given. But it has been a blessing in disguise ….
The downvotes started when Hive hit $3 … nobody could tell me why I was being downvoted … so I started selling my 25,000 Hive power at $3 …. $75,000 usd at the time ….
I started buying Bitcoin at around $ 16,000 …
I also bought some PEPE in 2023 .
So … I have done ok.
I am very happy with the downvotes. I still have no idea why the 2-3 whales started Downvoting me. But I am glad they did .
