Perhaps we have also entered an era of a different kind of boredom, one that overwhelms us. But, well, boredom sometimes drives us to do silly things. “I'm not doing anything anyway, let me go do something stupid.” Why not?
Boredom may exist when the power or internet goes out, and that was precisely what triggered me to do one of the most stupid things in my life: climb a tower over 50 meters high. I did this when I was a teenager, and at that time, the internet was not accessible to everyone, we were not yet dependent on it, but rather on electricity. With no video games or TV, the power went out and I went out to meet my friends, because there's nothing better than passing the time talking. But that wasn't enough, and we had the brilliant idea of climbing a radio tower, yes, one of those huge ones, with an iron structure and everything.
It was dark, and I went first, after all, I was the one who had this brilliant idea. Climbing and climbing, at a certain point I thought it was a bad idea (who could have imagined that?), the tower swayed in the wind and little could be seen in the darkness from above. It wasn't raining anymore and there was no lightning, otherwise this could have been a sad story and certainly not one I would be telling. But when I reached a platform at the top of the tower, I saw one of the coolest views I've ever had. Everything looked very small, and I couldn't see much that wasn't lit by the candles inside the houses below, but it was still impressive. Well, on that day, boredom was overcome, and to this day, when I meet my friends, we remember that moment.
On that specific occasion, it was something stupid, but a lot of fun. I would never have done that on any other occasion, and boredom was largely responsible. But boredom isn't always a villain; in fact, boredom is a great ally for creativity, as studies have proven. I can't explain it exactly, but I'm sure you've had great ideas while taking a shower or waiting for something when you didn't have access to your cell phone. It always happens to me. And, in fact, lately I've been forcing boredom at times, and it has helped me in some way.
So, apart from this adventure episode, boredom is an ally, or at least it should be used as an ally. Of course, no one likes to be bored, but doing something all the time is also exhausting, and perhaps boredom exists precisely to balance things out, to bring moments when nothing should be done, where only boredom should prevail and break up a little the hectic pace at which we are always living. It is not a villain, at least it shouldn't be, unless you are a teenager seeking adventure and without much sense of risk.

O tédio já esteve presente na vida das pessoas com mais frequência antes da "era das telas" do que atualmente, claro. Hoje em dia é difícil ficar entediado por muito tempo, sendo que você pode “sacar” seu celular do bolso e assistir a algum vídeo idiota. O tédio talvez exista quando a energia elétrica ou a internet acaba, e foi justamente isso que foi o gatilho para eu fazer uma das coisas mais idiotas da minha vida: subir em uma torre de mais de 50 metros de altura. Eu fiz isso quando era adolescente e, naquela época, a internet nem era acessível a todos, ainda não éramos dependentes dela, mas sim da energia elétrica. Sem videogame ou TV, a energia acabou e fui para a rua encontrar meus amigos, nada melhor do que passar o tédio conversando. Mas isso não foi o suficiente e tivemos a brilhante ideia de subir em uma torre de rádio, sim, aquelas enormes, com estrutura de ferro e tudo mais.
Estava tudo escuro e eu fui primeiro, afinal, quem teve essa brilhante ideia fui eu mesmo. Subindo e subindo, em certa parte achei que aquilo era uma má ideia ( quem poderia imaginar isso?), a torre balançava com o vento e pouco se podia ver naquela escuridão do alto. Não estava chovendo mais e nem tinha raios, senão essa poderia ser uma história triste e com certeza não seria contada por mim. Mas, chegando a uma plataforma lá em cima da torre, vi uma das vistas mais legais que já tive, tudo parecia bem pequeno, não dava para ver muita coisa que não fosse iluminado pelas velas dentro das casas lá em baixo, mas ainda sim foi impressionante. Bem, nesse dia o tédio foi vencido, e até hoje, quando encontro meus amigos, nos lembramos desse momento.
Nessa ocasião em específico, foi algo estúpido, mas bem divertido. Em nenhuma outra ocasião eu teria feito isso, e o tédio foi o grande responsável. Mas o tédio não é um vilão sempre, na verdade, o tédio é um grande aliado para a criatividade, estudos comprovam isso. Eu não sei explicar isso ao certo, mas, com certeza, você já deve ter tido ótimas ideias enquanto tomava banho ou esperava por alguma coisa quando não estava com acesso ao celular, sempre acontece isso comigo. E, na verdade, ultimamente tenho forçado o tédio em alguns momentos, tem me ajudado de alguma maneira.
Então, tirando esse episódio de aventura, o tédio é um aliado, pelo menos, deve ser usado como um aliado.
