Nowadays , life has been made easier for us with the help of different social media platforms. All thanks to the technological advancements we have today, giving us the opportunity to easily connect with people all over the world, do business online, and live better, secure jobs, and the list goes on.
However, all of these platforms come with their good and bad sides, but there is a particular one that, if given the power, I will ban today and without hesitation.
Let's not even be carried away with the benefit most of these platforms offer. I understand the monetization and the business adverts and more, but obviously the negative effect in the lives of people is a big concern, so toxic is TikTok. Others too have their own negativities, but you see TikTok, it's destroying many lives; forget the money they earn there.
Currently, there has been a case I am actively involved in over the toxicity of this platform called TikTok and its negative impact on the life of a sixteen-year-old girl living with my friend. Even little ones chase after clout, likes, comments, and followers, my lawd, lol. I no longer have the TikTok app or account, but whenever I click on some TikTok videos through a link, it becomes an unending scroll until Jesus saves my life...lol.
This sixteen-year-old girl I mentioned here is still in secondary school oo, but due to the trend, she has been acting to belong, doing all manner of short sexual videos on a daily basis online and going live even. If you see her followers, I was just opening my mouth. Under her comment section of her videos, you will be seeing text like "Follow me, I will follow back" repeatedly from different people; it's clearly addictive, and she is on a quest to gain more followers too. She literally loses focus over the TikTok drama.
Again, you know that most of these sexual videos attract more views and that's what most people release every hour with millions of views to the detriment of people's health. We discovered that even in her school, she doesn't stay in class most times but is always in search of a spot to make her short videos each day. It's obvious she is highly addicted and on the way to something unpleasant, good enough , her phone has been seized. Her page is as corrupt as anything; the same thing is applicable to most people over there.
I still remember how TikTok started as a space for fun activities, but over time, it started turning into questionable acts, draining people's time, their data, and their mental health. There is something about TikTok that makes people stay glued over there with a struggle to leave that space. Other platforms are not free from nude videos, but the ones on TikTok are beyond my understanding. The app is just designed to accommodate short videos, and so people use it to spread trends so fast, and it reaches millions of people within minutes, whether it's a harmful or senseless video.
However, the world would not be any better off without the TikTok platform in it, but I believe that without it, we may start having more people rediscover their talents rather than dancing naked and posting it over there for millions of views. I feel that many people are losing it with that platform already, making the disadvantages of it weigh far more than its benefit. I feel the ban is for the best, not that the platform is completely bad; after all, there are still people promoting nice stuff over there.

Myself, I would be pleased to see all of those platforms disappear. The good does not outweigh the bad. The way I see it, the "esse and convenience" that they supposedly provide is an illusion. I will say Tiktok is a toxic app and drawing lot of people's attention. Honestly, teenagers are now posting inappropriate video on Tiktok and people are not stopping them.

Oh, that girl has been possessed by the TikTok gods lol. I completely agree with you, TikTok is a very toxic place, consumers are hooked with cheap dopamine that keeps them in the platform for a relatively long period of time without receiving an value from it.

I also don't like the app but I don't blame the app because it's we who made the app like that otherwise it could a powerful social media. I guess less restrictions of tiktok allow people to promote such a thing. I believe that in the future it will put more restrictions. Let's see where it will end up.

One thing most of the people who in a bid to gain more followers don't know about the short sexual videos they post is that the internet doesn't forget and so later when they try to do some decent things the stigma that has gone ahead because of what they have posted begins to hunt the future
