I greet you all my lovely Hive family and friends, as I welcome you to my 66th week (03) entry for the Hive Learner's featured post, where I would be telling us about my nickname.
My Nickname And How It Came About |

Let me start by telling us that my real name is Preye Godgift while my Nickname is "Normalyf", pronounced as normal life, yeah like living a normal life, lol.
It seems like a funny and unusual nickname right? yeah, this is because I got to bear the name in the most unusual situation and period of my life.
It was in my secondary school days when I was still a teenager seeking the right path to follow for a better future.
The reason why I got the nickname 'normal life' was because I was seen as a "boring" person, whom didn't drink, smoke, or party like some of my peers did. It was more like living a different life from the majority of my peers back then in school.

Growing up, I was never one to stand out in the crowd, as I was just an average student, hanging out with my friends and doing my best to get through high school.
Little did I know that my journey into living a normal life would lead to me being given a nickname by my classmates.
It might interest you to know that this nickname of mine came as a form of mockery by some of the boys in my class, especially one particular friend of mine called Innocent.
I won't forget how he would always greet me with the words Normal life everyday. Infact innocent was the greatest promoter of this nickname back then in school.
Instead, I focused on my studies, spent time with my family and close friends, and pursued hobbies like reading, writing, and sport activities.
For some reason, people didn't understand why I didn't want to be like them, and they assumed that I was uptight, judgmental, or holier-than-thou. And so, the nickname 'normal life' which was supposed to be like a mockery of me living a normal life.
Initially I wasn't comfortable with the name, but there's something about Nigerians that amuses me, and that is the fact that they could use your weakness against you if they know about it.
What I mean here is that whenever we see that a certain situations or incident could get you emotional, then we would continuously use it on and against you until you become stronger and overcome it, lol.
So I wasn't showing any emotions or what so ever when I was hailed with the name normal life. But looking back, I realize how unfair and untrue that nickname was, because I wasn't a boring person at all; I just had different interests and values than some of my peers.

Nevertheless, funny how it went, as I became very popular with the nickname 'normal life' and I became used to people calling me 'Norma life'. Infact I later feel in love with the nickname, and decided that It would officially be my nickname as I moved on in life.
At times I smile at the way it all turned out, from being a name that was initially meant to make me feel awkward to a name that I now use on all my social media platforms.
Yes fams, I typed it right, I meant it when I said I became in love with the name. I have been using the nickname 'normal life' which I usually spell as "Normalyf" for years now.
On Facebook, Tiktok, Twitter, and even on My Hive account, I use my nickname (#Normalyf) as the official name.
To some extent the name even tends to guide me from diviating from the main purpose it was given in the first place. I try my best to live a normal life, so as to match what the nickname implies.

Today, I can look back on my high school nickname with a sense of humor and perspective. It's just one small blip in my life story, although it doesn't totally define me.
If anything, it taught me the valuable lesson of not taking myself too seriously and not worrying too much about what others think.

Wow,lolsss, normal life,it's funny but then I think it's okay,that's how classmates behave,they tend to just give you one name to qualify that person, sometimes it makes sense while another time it doesn't make sense.
Hahaha you are right dear, classmates are fund of giving nicknames to qualify ones status. In my case, it turned out to be a story that would last for long, lol. Thanks for your lovely support and tine, I really appreciate.
