Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today’s topic is from Hive-Learners and it says: Bad Art. So let’s dive in.
Honestly, I personally don’t believe there is anything called bad art. To me, art is simply a way people express their feelings and emotions. Just because I don’t like someone’s art doesn’t make the art bad. We all have different tastes and preferences. The art I see as beautiful and unique, another person might not like it. The art that looks strange or rough to some people can be very meaningful to me. That doesn’t mean one of us is wrong, it’s just that the way we see the art is different.
If I must say, there are people who always think art must be perfect without any roughness or mistakes. But the way I see it, art is not about perfection; it is about expression. In some artworks, we can see a woman crying while breastfeeding her baby or a painting of just a shadow. That art is telling a story about the condition of the artist. The person who drew that art knows why they drew it, maybe that’s what they are going through emotionally, and they are expressing it through their drawing. Like I said, if the art looks rough, then there is a meaning behind it.
To me, art doesn’t have to make sense to everyone. It only needs to express something real. Just as I mentioned earlier, the fact that I don’t like or understand a particular art doesn’t mean I should call it bad, that’s wrong. Some artists use multiple colours in their work. It’s not because they don’t know what they’re doing, but that is how they choose to express their emotions. If we take our time to really look at the art, even for a short while, we might start to understand the story behind it.

I have watched many movies, especially American movies where they value art so much. In that movies I’ve seen billionaires at auctions spending millions of dollars on a single painting, not just because it looks beautiful, but because it carries a deep meaning that connects with them personally.
There are people who, when they see a piece of art, feel inspired because they understand the deep meaning behind it. Meanwhile, others will look at the same art and feel nothing, that simply means the art is not for them.
Also, art is not only about what we see, but how it makes us feel. Art can make us happy, sad, emotional, and so on. For me, if a piece of art makes us feel these emotions, then it has done its job, because that is the purpose of art—to make us feel something real.
In conclusion, what we call bad art is not actually bad—it is just not our taste or something we can relate to. Art has different meanings for different people. Like the example I used of a woman crying while breastfeeding her baby: to me, I may simply see a mother feeding her child, while to someone else, it may represent a woman going through pain but still fulfilling her responsibilities as a mother.
So in my opinion, there is nothing like bad art. It’s just that our tastes and preferences are different. Because a particular art doesn’t mean anything to me doesn’t make it bad. Art is not supposed to be perfect, it is supposed to be expressive and emotional. That is what makes it beautiful.
