One of the prayer points African parents do pray is to eat the fruits of their labour, and for their children to be able to take care of them especially when they are old.
Am quite sure a lot of Nigerians would agree with me on this.

Let me take myself for example, My Dad keep over stressing the fact that he is Not expecting anything from me, that even in his old age, he prays never to rely on His Children for any help whatsoever, he say he have been able to built wealth for himself enough to be able to lean on even in times o hardship. I know deep down he was just trying as much as possible not to inconvenience us the children, but deep down He really want us to spend for Him, Buy things for Him, Care for him in every possible way.

Just some months ago, He had a little accident that got him hospitalised, and then immediately he called me about the accident, i quickly tried every possible best to send some amount for him, he told me not to worry about sending but i sent him a hundred thousand Naira for his Treatment and care anyway, he was so Happy. He later opened up to me that He was truly expecting me to send him something so that He can bless me, and also boast about it to all his friends 😂.
This is the Reality of Most African parents. There is Joy in recieving from your children, not Just for blessings them alone, but also for some sense of accomplishment.

What is My thoughts about, the Children taking Care of their Parents?

Honestly its is one of the Best thing you can ever do,
If you had opportunity to have your parents still alive and you are capable of taking care of them, please don't waste anytime in doing that. But not the parents shouldn't demand from their kids in a way that would be bothersome, overbearing, Demanding or in a way that would be too much for your child.

Just yesterday there was a news trending on X (Formerly known as Twitter). A Veteran Nollywood actor by Name Kanayo o Kanayo brought up a very controversial advice of paying your first salary
to your parents, he said the parent may decide to collect all, or just a tiny part of it and still return the remaining back to you. The parent (Specifically the Father) will then Bless the child wholeheartedly. I know this might look unrelated to the context of the topic, i just wanted to pinpoint the blessings part out. If perhaps i grow older and my children are working, i won't even go about demanding anything from my children, as a parent, i would try to have wealth and riches to cater for my retirement.
I believe it fair enough for your children to care for you as parents but there shouldn't be any form of compulsory responsibility saddled upon their children for taking care of their parents.

Thanks so much for taking your time to read

Have an Amazing weekend ❤️

There are parents who love their children the most in the world, but when they get older, the children do not value them and do not treat them in a way that is too much to see. It is regrettable.

That is one of the saddest thing to ever experience, may our children grow responsible and wise

Yeah you are right.

Exactly parents should not demand anything from their kids. I'm sorry to hear about your father's accident. It was nice to see you helped him with money. Whether it is an actor or it is a beggar, he has feelings and respect for his parents.

Without our parents we are nothing and it will never make sense to leave them in their old age.
