God works in mysterious ways, and sometimes, all we have to do is just have faith in him and believe in grace. If I didn't know all of this before, I got reminded of it after I got my posting letter some few days ago.
You see back at camp, a lot of people engaged in multiple activities or took different roles at the camp, and the reason most of them did this was because they were hoping they would get a good Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) where they would be sent to complete their one year of service to their country.
Everyone is always scared of getting posted to a remote village where there's probably no good road, electricity, or even drinkable water, so you see why most people would do almost anything to avoid being in a situation like that. And while most people decided to help out in camp by working, others decided to use their money to get the same result, by paying some people to help them get posted to a better environment.
One of the people who took a role at camp was a friend of mine who I also met at the camp. He had been given the role to work at the utility department, which basically was putting him in charge of our power supply at the generator house. His job was basically to turn on and off the generator, refuel it and make sure the light comes on at 6 and goes off at 10pm every day.
And aside from getting compensated with a good PPA, he also got a private room and toilet at the hen house, unlike the rest of us who had to sleep and bath with about forty other guys. So, he basically was living the life at camp, not having to join us to stand under the sun for hours, not having to attend classes and all of those boring stuff.
And I remember that sometimes, he would remind of the fact that he has got his place of primary assignment sorted out and would always ask me what my plan was, while I would always reply him that it's all in the hands of God because I had no money to pay anyone to help me, neither was I given any role in camp.
Fast-forward to the day when we got our posting letters and amongst the both of us, I had been the first one to receive mine. Imagine my surprise when I found out I had been posted to the best local government in the state, it was a huge shock to me because this was the same place people were secretly paying thousands to get posted to.
I still remember how I felt when I saw it, almost like it was yesterday. I had jumped up and down all over the place, while calling friends and family to share the good news with them. Then I remembered my friend at the utility department and had run to share the good news with him, only to see him looking sad.
It turned out he had not been posted to a place of his choice, rather he had been posted to a remote village instead. I remember the look on his face when he saw my posting letter, he couldn't believe it. I felt real sad for him, but then he had made a few calls and the guys in charge of the utility department had promised to him sort it out.
But you see, the reason I'm making today's blog is probably to inspire you guys that sometimes, even when it seems like all hope is lost, you just have to believe in God and pray for grace. Who knows, you might get as lucky as I did.
