Fast Driving

in Hive Learnersyesterday

Sometimes I do feel like some road accidents that happen are due to the drivers carelessness, which is also sometimes motivated by their passengers.

There are people who drive so carelessly that it makes you wonder if they have some extra lives at home or maybe they feel like they get to respawn every time they die, like they do in the video games.

Some few weeks ago, I was on my way back home from a different state that I had traveled to, and I could remember that while on that journey, a group of young men kept antagonizing the driver, telling him that he was the slowest driver they'd ever met and that he could always go faster.

And the crazy thing was that with each statement they made, the driver made sure to add more speed. It was obvious that their words were getting to him, and he probably would do anything just to prove them wrong about his driving skills.

Luckily for us, we also had people with brains in the vehicle, people who plan to live a long, fulfilled life like myself, and it was those people who had immediately spoken up, telling the driver to ignore the words of those men and instead drive responsibly.

Watching that entire situation unfold made me wonder what would have been the case if that bus had only been filled with people who had the mindset of the group of guys who only wanted him to hit the highest speed on the vehicle.

And who knows, maybe this same situation may have been the cause of one of these many accidents that we see on the roadside where a vehicle would slam into a truck parked at the roadside, instantly killing everyone in the vehicle.

And I honestly don't even get why people drive fast, to be honest, because the way I see it, driving fast can only guarantee two things: the first being that you get to your destination on time, and the second being that you don't get there at all.

I don't know about you guys, but if I'm doing something that has a 50/50 chance of me dying, I probably won't do it at all, unless not doing it would also mean that I die.

So why drive fast with the possibility of dying when you can always get there maybe a few minutes late and still be alive?

I think that driving first does not save anytime actually. A skillful driver can reach to the destination within the same time maintaining a stable speed and without taking risk. I am saying it based on my personal experience.
