Nigeria is among one of those countries who still lives in the past. Things of the old like human sacrifice and ritual is still prominent in this part of the world. The believe that killing someone and harvesting their body parts to give as sacrifice to some god in exchange for wealth still baffles me. A lot of people have tried to explain that there is no way such a thing is possible, unfortunately there are the ignorant and desperate ones who just don’t care if it’s real or not and just go ahead to carry out the gruesome act.
Yesterday, I heard a news that broke my heart. According to my friend who narrated the story, a lady who owns a local restaurant which we always frequent to eat was caught cooking with her menstrual period. You might be wondering why one would even do such a thing but apparently they believe that cooking with that would drive up the sales and business would be good.
One of her workers had caught her and had told everyone what she saw. If you’re a Nigerian, then there’s a possibility that you’ve heard of this story before as it’s almost as if it happens in different locations every year but the truth of the matter is that most of this stories are lies, lies spread by the owner of the restaurants competitors.
They probably were trying to stop everyone else from going to her restaurant and unfortunately, more than fifty percent of the time rumors like this comes out, the restaurant always closes down because no one wants to eat in a place like that even if the rumors aren’t true.
At the end of the day, there’s just one thing that I took out of all of this, I really have to start cooking for myself.
