The Mechanic Shop

If Jake knew maintaining a car would be much more expensive than the initial price he bought the car, he probably would have continued making use of Uber. This was his third time of visiting the mechanic shop in a month and he was getting tired of it. The only good side to coming to the mechanic shop was the gossip the men around always engaged in whenever he came around and just like every other day, he could see them sitting at their usual spot. He quickly parked his car, told the mechanic what was wrong with it and went to join them while silently praying that he was just in time to get the full details of whatever it was they were talking about this time.

He sat down quietly and listened as one of the men started narrating a story another friend of his told him happened to someone he knew.

According to him, the guy had given one of his kidneys to his diabetic girlfriend who was at the verge of dying if the transplant wasn’t done. The moment Jake heard this, he quickly asked himself if he could do such a thing for his girlfriend and he didn’t even need to think much about it to arrive at an answer, hell no!

Jake continued to pay attention as the man mentioned how the operation was a success and the girl eventually got strong and healthy, the guy too was fine and they both continued dating for about five months when the lady started acting up. They both didn’t live together but spoke on the phone regularly in the past but all of a sudden she started ignoring his calls and when he complains, she would give a flimsy excuse on why she didn’t answer his call and he would just let it slide for peace to reign. This was a girl he wanted to get married to so he tolerated everything until some days later when she told him how she was no longer comfortable in the relationship and wanted a break.

The dude thought he had done something wrong and tried to apologize but she insisted on taking a break from the relationship because she was tired of it, she wanted to be with someone else and apparently she had seen that person.

Jake could feel himself slowly getting angry. “How could she?” He asked himself and continued paying attention to the man narrating the story.

The man continued. “The guy finally agreed to let her go, but the issue now is that he wants his kidney back.”

“Yes!” Jake said, a little too loud that everyone turned towards his direction for a second before turning back to the man telling the story. Jake took that as his cue to leave, he was sure the mechanic was done by now but as he left, he had just one wish in his mind, that the dude will take back his kidney and her new guy should give her his own kidney. To Jake, that was the only way to settle the issue.
