The Two Families

in Hive Learners2 years ago

Karma is a bitch and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.

Both Mr and Mrs Kingsley sat in the living room, none of them said a word to each other as their kids continued to watch their cartoon, oblivious to the fact that both of their parents had distant looks on their faces.

Mr and Mrs Kingsley both didn’t need a soothsayer to help them guess what they both were thinking about. They both knew it and they both were ashamed of it.

Mr and Mrs Uduak were family friends with the Kingsleys, their kids play together all the time but what they all didn’t realize until the previous day was that they all were more than friends.

Mr Kingsley had travelled for a business trip the previous day and wasn’t expected to be back until the weekend or at least that was what he told his family. He had left very early in the morning and right after he left, Mrs Kingsley had picked up her phone and made one phone call.

“He has left…..No no no not at the house, the kids are around…..okay, I will meet you there at noon” she had ended the call with a smile on her face.

Twelve noon and Mrs Kingsley was already on her way out. She had told the kids that she needed to go do something quickly and would be back before evening, if only she knew that she would be back much earlier than that.

By the time she got to the destination, she made another phone call. “I’m at the front of the hotel approaching the reception, where are you?” She had ended the call after the person at the other end of the phone gave her a reply.

Mr Uduak placed his phone on the hotel table before getting down from his hotel bed, he wore his clothes before going down to the reception, his guest was waiting for him there. One look at his face and one could tell he couldn’t wait to have her upstairs.

On approaching the reception, he gave her a hug and was about heading back up the stairs with her when he heard a very familiar laugh, it was so familiar that even if he was sleeping and he heard it, he would know who that sound came out from, his wife.

Mrs Uduak laughed loudly as she and Mr Kingsley strolled into the hotel, he was such a funny man and that was one of the reasons she liked him. She still was laughing when she saw something, or rather someone that made her froze.

Mr Uduak also stood frozen, he didn’t know what to do, if he should attack the man with his wife but then, he too was with the man’s wife.

Both couple had gone home without saying a word to each other, and they probably never will.

The Couple have no bonding with each other. Wasting their lives because they think what will be done with kids if they split from each other.
Parrots best describe their feelings. 😂
