What Would You Do?

During one of our many family meetings, my dad had told us a story about a man who currently was in prison. He had told us of how this man had been provoked into a fight by his neighbors and how one punch from this man had sent his neighbor to the ground, killing him instantly.

Unfortunately for the man, this is an open-and-shut case for the police, as they usually never carry out any form of investigation in cases like this. They just go with the obvious, being that the punch killed the man.

If there's one thing I took from that story, it is that not everyone we see walking in the street is healthy, and that most times, it is best to walk away than engage in any form of brawl, even when being provoked into one.

But then again, I will admit that as a human being, having to walk away every time someone provokes us isn't something that is very easy to do. It might sound easy, but at that moment, with the anger in you, it takes some form of strong self-control to walk away.

Besides, when we keep on walking away from things like this, people might mistake it for us being a weakling, and it could encourage them to taunt us even more, thus making us suffer more of that thing that we keep trying to run away from.

But then I feel the question we all have to ask ourselves is, is it worth the risk? I'm talking about fighting back. Is fighting back whoever it is that is taunting us worth it?

Because at that moment it might seem like it dies, but after spending a year behind bars with many more years to come, we start to get a rethink and start to regret not walking away. So what do we do?

Do we keep on walking away and risk more harassment, or do we take the risk to fight and just pray that person doesn't just slump and die?

What would you do?

I never support physical violence. Whatever the reason it should not happen. But still, I feel that just for a single punch 2 life is destroyed is somehow unlucky.
